:spade:Okay, i'm not sure if this should be in the music forum or somwhere else, but the general idea that i have come up with is this. It combines the Draft aspect of AFL but instead of footy players you are drafting bands for your music festival, what happens is there will be 10 "events organisers" who shall take it in turns to select any band or singer that has ever made a song, the game finishes when each festival has 24 bands and/or singers, you can only choose one band at a time so to complete the game with 10 players there will be 240 picks, obviously you cant choose a band that has already been chosen. The draft order will be determined by the order of responses, i will take pick 5 to be fair.

please post if you want to join with the name of your festival.:thumbsu:

RULES

1. You can draft any Artist or Band that has ever been recognised as one.

2. The game finishes when all 14 players have taken 24 picks and have that many artists.

3. Before you are aloud to start Drafting your artists you must have a name for your festival, it can be made up or the name of an actual festival. ( eg. the Magic Mushroom Festival)

4. The draft will be in snake form, please disregard the other thread, it will be changed as the draft progresses.
(eg.
First Round
pick 1 - player 1
pick 2 - player 2
pick 3 - player 3
pick 4 - player 4
Second Round
Pick 5 - player 4
Pick 6 - player 3
Pick 7 - player 2
Pick 8 - player 1 )

5. You cannot choose a band or artist that has already been chosen, however in the instance where an Artist has performed in more than one band or group, you may select them (eg. Josh Homme chosen in one pick with QOTSA, but can also be selected in Kyuss)

6. The band, band member or artist may be deceased, they do not have to be alive. (eg. Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Joy Division or Nirvana)

7. After the person before you takes there pick you have 9 hours to take your pick or you will be given the first availble Band or Artist from the ARIA Singles charts, after they have run out we will move onto the American music charts, then UK charts etc. (eg. wait 9 hours, no pick taken, then they get black eyed pees, or highest ranking band or artist on the designated charts that is still available for selection)

8. In the instance that you post a list of preferances in the thread, in order of who you would prefer the most, then rule number 7 does not apply, if your preferance is chosen and you are unhappy then you can change your pick from your preferances list if the next pick hasn't been taken yet.
(eg. 1. Lily Allen 2. Powderfinger. if either available they will be chosen on your behalf if not the next on the list is chosen, if nobody is available, rule number 7 comes back into play)

9. There will be a Poll at the end of the draft the poll will be held on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis and you cannot vote for yourself, there is no selection criterea apart from enjoyment, the player with the highest tally wins.

Screw it, count me in if we can get it up and running.

Just to clarify though, what are the limits on the bands/artists we select. Do they have to be currently touring/producing music, can we include some as re-formed bands and what about ones missing band members through death eg. Crowded House?

At the end of this, will there be a poll to determine the most popular lineup? I know that music is subjective and everyone has different tastes, but yeah, just an idea.

...and what about ones missing band members through death eg. Crowded House?

Still touring, albeit with Matt Sherrod in place of Paul Hester.

I'm in. Does it have to be an actual festival? If so, I'll choose V Fest just to be different.

Surely we can expand to sixteen ! . Unlike good football players, there is effectively an unlimited amount of bands going around:p

I will go for the name Chaos, seeing as no one else has put their name down:D

Surely we could.

Should we give out picks based on how our teams finished this year?

Geelong - Ninty
St Kilda - ?
Bulldogs - soupaman
Collingwood - superfraser
Adelaide - ?
Brisbane - Hard Ball Get
Carlton - jrussell
Essendon - wce_all_da_way

Hawthorn - -TAZZA-
Port Adelaide - Deledinho
West Coast - KaLL
Sydney - Zarrix
North Melbourne - Roos4eva
Fremantle - stuart27
Richmond - morton09
Melbourne - omit

(I put everyone next to their team on who was first to reply, then after that the doubles ((stuart27, Deledinho, wce_all_da_way and Hard Ball Get)) in order from the best pick.)

What are the odds on Radiohead/Beatles going #1??? :D

How will winners be judged? Most diverse range of bands? Should we keep to a certain theme?

Very good idea for a game btw

Great idea, we just need a judicator that is online a bit!

The thing is too, should I just obtain more popular bands, or should I build around a theme based on my own tastes? Questions, Questions...

I'm going for the best festival I can create from bands I want to see, screw going for the popular vote (mind you my taste is pretty generic).

By the way, my festival is called iFestival 2.0
