I thought maybe we can have a thread for music-related trivia questions. Rules are simple, don't ask another question until the current one has been answered, and the person who answers correctly asks the next question.

First question,

Only 3 artists have ever been knocked off the number 1 spot in the UK charts by another one of their own albums. 2 of them are Bob Dylan and The Beatles, who is the third?

Seeing as Leni is in no hurry to ask a question, allow me.

Name the one and only band where each and every member has written a UK\US #1 single. (clue: 4 member band).

The Beatles. P, G then John had the most. Ringo's Photograph was co-written with George Harrison but we will still count it as its credited to Ringo and sung by Ringo.

Was this song released as a Beatles release or as a Ringo solo release? If it was released by Ringo, as I suspect, then it does not count in the context of my question.

i didnt know you meant in the confines of a group.

i am not sure who else would have had all 4 members writing a #1 hit. Status Quo? Queen? Im not really confident on those choices.

can you give a clue?

Is that a guess or did they actually achieve this feat?
If so, what songs did Peter Criss and Ace write that reached #1 in either the US or the UK?

Was just a rough guess, maybe basing writing credits on who did the vocals (not being an aficianado), and that somewhere in the Kiss hype of the late 70s even some of the crud would have charted pretty well.

According to the sleeve notes of Greatest Hits Vol 2, "A Kind of Magic" was written by Roger Taylor, and went to "number one in no less than 35 countires".

You could be onto something here.

Correctumundo!!!!

Roger was responsible for Innuendo and These are the days of our Lives which both achieved #1 status in the UK. Admittedly, TATDOOL was included in a Double A single with Bohemian Rhapsody. Cheating, yes, but technically right.

Actually, according to the source which I used for this question, A kind of Magic did not reach #1 in either the UK or US.
