What's it all about brother?
You sign up online and then download a program that records everything you listen to on Windows Media Player and Itunes. You can also set it up with your Ipod.

You have a page online (
http://www.last.fm/user/samgil thats mine) that shows everything you've listened to which is nice to have. Plus when people ask me what music I listen to I just send them to there because I hate trying to say.

Anyway, you can also see on the left of that page a neighbours tab. Every month or so you get "neighbours" that are people who have similar taste to you. This is the best way to find new music I find because you just look through their charts, see mostly artists you know but always a few that you dont. You get like 3 pages of neighbours so you are sure to find new songs/artists from their charts.

All of the artists also have their own page which is great. This has similar artists, the amount of times people have listened to them on Last.fm (I think the Beatles are still winning with about 200million), upcoming concerts, a bio about them, pictures, most listened to tracks, comment space for people to write and other stuff.

It's a great site, has more stuff than I've talked about. You should give it a go.

Thanks for the info brother. That sounds awesome.

As a side note, has anyone attended any of the music festivals of late? Soundwave? Future?

If I had money...

Anyone heard of Groovin' the Moo? Tis a festival in Bendigo. Got some decent bands. Silverchair, Empire of the Sun, Vampire Weekend, Grinspoon, Kisschasy and British India (shameless plug - went to me school :D )

Yeah I know a couple of people going this year. $96 pretty good for those bands plus Teagan & Sara and 9 others.

It's a sweet name.

For mine I would have loved to have gone to soundwave. Faith No More rock my world.

Same brother, I've caught them a couple of times but was desperate to see them again.

Until then here's the smooth dulcet tones of Metallica;

Apparently they're touring in November. Anyone else keen to see them?

**** I'll go by myself if I have to. None of my mates are massive Metallica fans sadly.

Really?

More than likely I'll still be on the turps celebrating our premiership*

*Hopefully.

Faith No More were amazing to see live. Best band at Soundwave easy, with only Placebo and Afi coming close. Up there with the best live performances that I have witnessed. Very entertaining, Mike Patton in good form, great sound and a wonderful setlist. For the the Melbourne Soundwave they opened with a Crowded House cover ' don't dream it's over' :)

I have my ticket.

I went to last years Groovin In the Moo. I had a great day, saw the likes of The Living End, The Grates, Hilltop Hoods, Tame Impala, Little birdy just to name a few.

Back in 2006 it used to be held in Albury. It was a much smaller festival back then. It has really grown since it has moved to Bendigo and now the ACT and WA get the chance to experience the Groovin In The Moo festival. It's a great idea, as there is too many music festivals during summer and not enough in winter. Can't wait.

So a friend of mine at work have been playing guitar poker:

She started with Gary Moore's "Still got the Blues for you".

I saw her Gary Moore, and raised her a Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah"

She saw my Jeff Buckley, and raised me a Guns n Roses' "Sweet Chil' of Mine"...

I saw her Gunners, and raised her a AC/DC's "Thunderstruck".

still some room to raise, I'd say...

- Pink Floyd's 'comfortably numb'
- Van Halen's 'eruption'
- Jimi Hendrix' 'all along the watchtower'
- the Eagles' 'Hotel California'

and of course the royal flush

- Led Zeppelin's 'stairway to heaven'

Cool, from what I've heard he's an awesome blues guitarist. Report back Carty :)

he was good! very good... best guitarist I've seen live. :thumbsu: He did say it was the best show he'd done so far (and if you've seen his rants on FB, you'll see he is a bit hard to please). Very impressive. I know squat about how to play a guitar, but damn it sounded good :D

Just bought tickets for Modest Mouse, touring in July :thumbsu:

Modest Mouse are great, I am very jealous! I was so annoyed when Lupe Fiasco came out with his new song, which has extremely similar guitar to Float On...
