I probably have about 2,000 records but if i was forced to pick just ONE and ONLY one record that i feel is absolutely essential it would be DIE KREUZEN's self titled first LP on Touch & Go records. Mid-West demented-noise-hardcore-punk from 1984. Their following releases were pretty much on the lame side but this LP is an essential item for anyone who claims to be into hardcore/punk music.

If you can't buy it, Soulseek it. But make sure it's this track listing.

Bad Religion - All Ages (it's modern day folk music)
I don't know if you can call an album that was released 10 years ago, comprising of songs that are up to 15-20 years old 'Modern'.

You have no clue about metal, do you? Anthrax is nothing at all like Death Metal.

Songs- With the Perfect Circle refence I'd assume you've got Tool?
Ministry- Just One Fix and N.W.O.
Pantera- Mouth for War and Five Minutes Alone
Alice in Chains- Them Bones and Would?
Nirvana- Lithium, On a Plain, In Bloom and Scentless Apprentice
Nine Inch Nails- Wish and Closer

Keeping in mind that folk 20th century folk music derived from the troubedors of the middle ages, and what Bad Religion's music is a direct descendent of that, I'll stick with 'modern'. ;)

Just do what I do and find some bands which you like or half like, do a Limewire search and download the top responses!
