This is why the Tigers should appoint me as coach.

2008-2012

2008
.Trade prioty picks for another hack midfielder, look for a Johnston, Peveril or a hack of their ilk. Cover up the blunder by telling the fans "we need experience to nuture our rookies"

.Design a blueprint for the first 11 rounds, with emphasis on losing heavily early, to make the three wins you achieve in the 2nd half of the season acceptable. Finish 10th as to make 9th an improvement in 2009

2009
.Use 1st and 2nd round picks to gain two promising "in and under" midfielders. Avoid promising KPP's at all costs and claim Ray Hall is "really coming along"

.After losing the first 5 matches, hold a press conference and tell the fans it's a young list, still with plenty improvement to come. Predict a middle of the range finish, with more emphasis on player improvement than moving up the ladder

2010
.Delist Peveril and hope no one notices what a massive screw up it was, tell them you're happy with the "experiment" if questions are raised. Recruit Ottens again, Kingsley will be on his last legs and you'll need another soft footed old-timer to replace him.

.Water down rumours that Deledio is looking to be traded at season's end, deny the obvious fact that he's finally realised his potential and realised Richmond's lack of

.Revert back to basketball tactics in the face of adversity. The development of the youngsters will suffer amid negative tactics, but atleast it'll fool the fans for another week

2011
.Richardson retires before the trade period begins, leaving a gaping hole that can't be filled, due to never recruiting any KPP's. Deledio agrees to a one year deal, possibly out of sympathy

.Membership drops and reports of fans spitting at players are rife. After another 15 goals loss be sure to regain calm over the supporter base, claim that the club is moving forward and the age bracket of the core player group is almost at an optimum.

2012
.Trade the number one pick for two players with about 5 years of football left in their legs. Ottens is undergoing knee surgery so another hack forward is vital, possibly Tarrant by this stage, and Ling because you don't have enough "in and under" types

.Trade Deledio for a package deal with St. Kilda, gaining Milne, Montagna and a 4th round pick (bargain!) Prepare midseason statement for Milne's return of 3 goals by the half way mark

.Get an extension on your contract, Richmond are currently 2-15 but the age bracket of the core player group is almost right, milk another 5 years out of this line.

2013-2017
.Repeat process

I think you missed the part of the job description that says "having a brain is a pre-requisite".

Shame, because I'm sure an AFL club would be desperate to employ someone with as much knowledge and experience that you seem to have...

Maybe apply to Collingwood at the end of the year?

Its gone from a five year plan ( **** I need more than 5 years ) to a ten year plan.

Has this guy got any more gimmicks, he must work 100 hrs a week to come up with all the crap he does.

This has to be one of the funniest if not true posts in recent times. ALthough Richmonds rebuilding started in 1981 so it is more like a 33 year plan at this stage. Its coming along though.

That is a great plan and perhaps you can keep it for when the Swans start to slide and Roos, who is on record saying that he will walk when the Swans success ends, does in fact walk and they are looking for a coach to replace him. Your knowledge of football is immense and as such you would be just about unbeatable as an AFL coach. However if you are looking to test the water before then perhaps you can send your plan to the following clubs: Essendon, Carlton, Kangaroos, Melbourne, Geelong, Fremantle as all their coaches are currently in the last year of the contracts and if the results don't go according to plan they couls well be looking for a new coach. Unfortunately for you, the Tigers will not be looking for a new head coach in the nest few years.

Come on, that's not very realistic...

No, don't think those were his words, nice spin though, i'll pay it. As for your prediction that the Tigers wont be looking for a new coach within the next few years, how often have you thought that in the past?
