I reckon there's a bit of value in the midfield this year. Players like Steven, Cripps, Redden, Coniglio, Hanneberry, Rockliff and Beams could all lift their average a bit.

That strategy may also allow more value picks accross the forward line and backline.

I reckon you've spent too much def and fwd and it impacts your mid line. If you cut Seedsman or McGrath and Parish back to rookies you'll be able to afford Cogs and at least one more mid premo.

I'm not convinced on Stringer. Yes he's likely to see mid time but I can see his scores being very inconsistent...bloody frustrating for owners. I won't start him, but if he looks good early I might jump on as a stepping stone.

Edit: I really like JOM this year, so would keep him if you can.

after closer inspection i've made the following changes:
McGrath -> Crisp
Birchall -> O'Brien,L
Armitage -> Brayshaw,A (FRE)
Parish -> Dahlhaus
Bennell -> Lobb
(4k leftover)

and i now own at least 1 player from every team... woohoo

Depends if you're going for league wins or overall. Loading up on mid rookies is not a bad strategy if you're only concerned about league wins as your team should be set up nicely come finals. To stay in touch overall I think you really need at least 1 more premo mid.

Yes mid rookies typically make more money than others. But the difference in points scored by mid premos vs mid rookies is generally greater than the difference in points scored by premos vs rookies on other lines. You're also taking a risk on several high end midpricers that may or may not become keepers. It's possible rookies emerge that could score almost as well as say Seedsman or McGrath. In which case you would have been better off saving the 200-300k to be used elsewhere.

I have just started picking my team. Now I remember why I am addicted to this.

I personally like Rocky, Heeney and the cash (~70k). I think Rocky will lift back to that 115 mark this year easy enough. Heeney could be a little underpriced too, having the Interrupted pre-season could be the reason he fizzed out towards the end.

Menagola I think is basically maxed out, with the uncertainty with Gazza coming back, better off as an upgrade target, if he continued. Zorko would be a great unique to start the season, I'm playing the long game with him thou, hoping he throws up one really bad game (has form) and then try and jump on after a decent discount.
