Pav heading back to SA. The window for these guy's is very small. They serve their apprenticeship from ages 18-22 then press ahead with a career they hope will bring them fullfillment which includes September action. By the end of Pav's current contract (end of 2007 I think) if the Crows have moved a head of Freo in performance and are a regular finals contender who can blame him from venturing back to SA. Neil Craig has done a reasonable job in his short tenure building the Crows and a CHF would be just what they could be looking for. Lets hope I am wrong.

Geoff you're very much on the money. He could quiet easily go much earlier tan at end of 2007. He said when he signed his extension(early/mid 2004 before the wheels fell off) he believed that the dockers would be figure deep into sept action over the next few years.

Remeber he has came out at start of year and said that there was disharmony in 2004 and recently he has made comments that were contradicting Connolly.

This is basically my greatest fear too. Not just losing Pav, but our other guns too. We are currently on track to miss our window, but keep kidding ourselves that it will all be OK, some miracle will get us back on track.

The captaincy will be his within the next two years, can the Crows or Port offer this?. I've found that to be a pretty good carrot.

We need to hook Pav up with a good, wholesome, close to her family West Aussie Girl. The Wholesome bit is optional.

I often wonder when the likes of Pav/Schammer/Murphy will have a "gut full" of failure and maybe CC and want to go home. Both SA teams offer finals footy on a regular basis.

The way CC is keeping Murphy on the bench is a shame. The kid needs game time and a lot of it.

I hadn't considered this one Geoff, and you are dead right. If our current form continues I would say it is more likely than not.
There would be more chance of it if the coach was chanked IMO.
We get a new coach and there are personality conflicts (like Blight & Modra , Thompson & Bizzell , Thomas & Spider . Barry Hall , Malthouse & Paul Williams etc. etc.) and it will be bye bye to some of our better players and a heap of ones in developement just as we are at last accumulating a list with some depth.

Pav , Cookie , Jeffery , JLo to name a few , have by their actions demonstrated that they want to play for CC IMO. Whether that is the case with another coach is anybodies guess.

We than go backwards 2-3 years when the new Coach is obligated to find "The place is a mess" and embarks on his own new "re-building program".

So you attack me and not the substance of my post.
That tells me that I am not far off the mark.

I don't dislike YOU, I dislike ONLY your posts regarding CC, as whatever anyone says, you will come back and try to defend him at all costs.

Me: Freo and Eagles list 2001 were the same.
You: Nope

Me: Your list (starting 22) is Top 4 material (I'm paying a compliment)
You: You'll bring out stats to say Freo list over-rated.

Me: CC made a bad move in the last game.
You: So Woosha's move of Player A in 2003, how was that not wrong?

Me: CC said midfield is slow, Midfield players contradict him a few days later and says no, we look slow when we get beaten. Doesn't that show you conflict?
You: No, everyone entitled to an opinion.

So, you are saying, your comments are "not far off the mark". Okay, then show howm many other supporters staunchly defend CC at all costs?

He should back door Chris Judd and get hold of Rebecca Twigley. If she can't keep him in WA nothing can. ;)

It is too easy to follow the norm and agree especially where sticking the boots in are concerned.

I think I have demonstrated qutie clearly that I was right there as well.

Correct in 2003 we made the finals with few injury problems and on the back of exceptional (AA) seasons from Bellie , Pav & Hase.

We have never had our starting 22 on the park at the same time ever this year and everybody acts like we have.

And No less than David Parkin agrees with me.
"For years Freo people have overrated where they are actually at. Chris Connolly knows what is required and is the right man for the job".

I think he has far more credibility than "helpfull" Eagles supporters and some of our own who fit the above category and are impatient for success (as I am also).

I also remember 1998 when we beat both Grand finalists but faded after being decimated by injuries.

New coach , half the list traded of delisted and after 3 years only 6 players that made their AFL debut under Drum /Allan are still on the list and only 2 are still playing elsewhere.

Compare that to the 17 that have made their AFL Debut under CC and all are still listed.

Can't remember that , got a link?

There are few , it takes balls to stand up against popular (even if it is mis-guided IMO ) opinion.

The Anti CC campaign would have more credibility with me if it wasn't started off in early 2004 when we were sitting top 6.

This smacks to me of an agenda.

Sorry for straying back on to the topic...but it would be very hard for any team to trade for a player like Pavlich, who will presumably be captain of Freo before 2007, unless that team is the wooden spooner. Freo can name its trade if, hypothetically, Pav wants to go to Adelaide/Port - what do u ask for in return for your best player????
The other club would have to pay a huge price in draft picks/players. I guess the Nick Stevens case is the best example of how problematic it can be for a player to end up at the club of his choice.

Exactly - Port or Adelaide would have to look at giving up heaven and earth to get Pav. He has too much integrity to "walk" and why would he?? He'd undoubtedly end up at whoever was the wooden spooner - unlikely (but not impossible I suppose) to be either of the SA clubs. Meaning he'd likely end up in Melb which kind of defeats the purpose of "going home".
