Monica Scarlett Egan

Milburn Harley Enright

Mooney Ling Hunt

Chapman Playfair Steve Johnson

G Ablett Ottens Kingsley

Rucks:
King
Bartel
Corey

Inter:
Kelly
Tenace
Riccardi
Rooke

I couldnt fit Nablett, DJ, Mackie in.
If this team can get on the field on more occassion that not i will say we are nearly unbeatable. Only concern is starting midfield may be abit slow- might need to get Tenace and Rooke on.

All those guys would probably be in my best 22. Although I'd like to see DJ and Nablett in there. Its a good sign to see we have people having to fight for a spot.

Oh my, why does everybody in the football world forget Milburn?, including Geelong supporters.

My 22 are as follows

Hunt Scarlett Rooke

Milburn Harley Enright

Kelly Ling Bartel

S.Johnson Playfair Chapman

G.Ablett Ottens Kingsley

Foll: King, Corey, Mooney

Int: Rooke, N.Ablett, D. Johnson, Riccardi.

Wojcinski will have to proove himself returning from his injury. Tenace, Mackie, Brynes are all unlucky but i could not squeeze them into my 22.

Do u think this team is a little one paced and slow- i think it needs more speed.

Agreed. Definitely need at least one of Tenace, Byrnes or Wojcinski for speed. That said, a balance must be struck between speed and the ability to use the ball and contribute to the team constructively. At times I worry about Byrnes’ ability to do this. I feel Tenace is improving in this area and Wojcinski was in the best 22 until he was injured so it remains to be seen if he returns to that calibre.

Couldn't have Rooke in the last line of defence again. His go is on the ball tagging the oppositions best playmaker.

Callan Scarlett Ling
Harley Egan Kelly
Hunt Corey Enright
S Johnson Playfair/Kingsley/Lonergan/Mackie/McCarthy Milburn
G Ablett Ottens Chapman
King Mooney Bartel
Riccardi Rooke Tenace N Ablett

Can only afford 1 forward that can't kick in the side at any given time. Hence only one of the guys at CHF can play in the team at any given time.

I think Lonergan and Mackie aren't bad kicks for goal. So you could have say, Playfair and one of those at any one time.

Yeh I would cop that.

Just not more than 1 of Playfair Gardiner McCarthy or Kingsley
Unless there was injuries.

Milburn - Scarlo -Hunt
Wojinski - Harley- Corey
Kelly - Ling - Enright
Chappy - Henry - GAJ
SJ - Kent -Otto
King - Bartel - Mooney
Egan - Ricco - (Rooke / Callan /DJ) - Tenace

Interesting to see that a few of you have put hunt on a wing? With the new kick out rules, i cant see this happening because he is more valuable at a kick out then he his playin on a wing. Does he have the stamina/ leg speed to anyway??

I know people are very cautious when it comes to listing Nathan Ablett in their 22, but from what he has shown so far, he deserves to be in the side. I'd rather him in the side over Gardiner or McCarthy. The kid can actually kick straight.

Whether he starts on the pitch or not, I reckon he is a natural full foward and plays that possie better than most in the side.

Either way, I'm glad I'm not Bomber Thompson, the amount of competition there is for places is unbelievable!!

Byrnes, Riccardi, Tenace, Wojcinski, Rooke, D. Johnson, Varcoe (maybe), Gardiner, McCarthy, Callan, Blake, Spencer, Mackie, Stokes:

IMO these 13 guys would all be battling for spots on the bench. I reckon all will get game time this year.

Rooke Scarlett Mooney
Milburn Harley Hunt
Wojcinski Ling Kelly
Chapman Playfair G. Ablett
Kingsley Ottens S. Johnson

King Corey Bartel

Riccardi N. Ablett D. Johnson Egan

Best thing about Geelong is they have so many back up players. We havent really seen the best of Brent Prismall and Matt Stokes and by all reports, they are looking good. We could really expose teams this year in our forward line. Against a small opposition backline, we could have Kingsley, Ottens, N. Ablett and Playfair with Chappy and Johnson and G. Ablett rotating small roles.

Our backline is rare in that we can match well against tall opposition forward lines. Scarlett, Harley, Egan and Mooney are all 192 plus and not many teams have that tall of a forward line. On the other hand if they are small forwards, D. Johnson can replace a tall and wojcinski can push back into defence.

Our midfield has the luxary of rotating players through the forward line (Chapman and Ablett) and even backline with Milburn, Hunt and even Mooney. Ottens rotates with King and when either ruckman needs a complete rest, on comes N. Ablett to sit at FF!

The way I can see it, Geelong don't have the best starting 22 in the AFL but we are the most vercitile and flexible.

I'm pretty much in agreeance with Seb, although I wouldn't have Rooke in defence anymore. As someone else mentioned, I'd only play him as a defensive midfielder from now on. Leave Enright as a sweeper from the back half. I must admit, though, that Enright does play attractive footy as a wingman.

Actually, I would pick exactly the same 22 as Seb! :thumbsu: :D

I like Rooke as the small defender. He can do a job on the smaller forwards, generally receives a lot of Hunt's kickouts, and leaves the more skilful players to play in the middle of the ground.

I found it impossible to find a spot for Mooney. Enright was potentially the only player I'd leave out for him. Egan is too solid in defense now and if Harley is fit, he'd be ahead of Moondog.

Mooney and Riccardi are my "impact players". :thumbsu:

I just realized that I'd play KK on the flank away from goals and put SJ closer to goals to weave his magic.

my 22...

B: Hunt - Scarlett - Egan
HB:Mooney - Harley - Milburn
C: Enright - Ling - Kelly
HF: Chapman - Playfair - G.Ablett
F: Ottens - Kingsley - S.Johnson
R: King - Corey - Bartel

Int: Wojinski - Riccardi - N.Ablett - Rooke

looks a solid starting line up, king and ottens swapping in the ruck, and with king or ottens needing a rest, nablett will be pushed to full forward to compensate.
Rotate G.Ablett and Chappy through the middle with enright, kelly and mooney also able make a impact through the middle.
looks good on paper, lets hope it works on the feild :)

Are we that bad that we need to play Jarad Rooke's sister?
