My Own Phantom Draft

I want pure footballers, not athletes end of story. The only 'athlete' I would be tempted to draft with a late pick would be Steven Gaertner. I do not want Naituai under any circumstances.

It is extremely unlikely that he will slip to us anyway. Chances are that you won't have to worry about it.
But in my opinion, if he slipped to five then you would have to take him. He's too good to pass up.

No he isn't. All he is at the moment is hype. Sorry, I am not drafting on HYPE alone. I want footballing ability first and foremost. A Hurley, Zibell, Hartlett, Swift, etc are more "safer" bets. Naituai is just as likely to be a flop as he is to be a success.

You don't rate Naita or Yarren...that pretty much sums up your credibility.

I would be over the moon to have either at Essendon.

Naita at 5 and Yarran at 23 (although extremely unlikely) would be awesome.

Pearce is currently a halfback and a very good one at that.

I've also seen many phantom drafts with NickNat as your first selection.

As for small forwards, the best going around is Yarran and pick 2 is paying slightly over the odds for that selection.

LeCras is your small forward, surely if he gets on the field he is good enough.
I wasn't sure about Pearce's position. If he is a halfback, especially a strong defensive type ,then I could certainly see the Eafles being interested in him as I have noticed that we seem to have trouble shutting down opponents' small forwards. Le Cras is a good player, however he has had injuries in the last couple of seasons and hasn't been able to play regularly. Having lost Sampi and Morton, our two small forward backups, and now Armstrong the Eagles don't have a recognised small forward other than Le Cras. I agree that pick 2 is paying over the odds for Yarran (from all reports) but, many people seem to think that he could still be there at pick 18 or so. There is also a possibility (probability) of another first round pick after trade week if one of the Eagles players that have been mentioned is traded.

I like it.. except Yarren isnt there.
He is very underrated on bigfooty.

IMO I think Adelaide will take Trengove ahead of Johnston if he is available.

Good work :thumbsu:

I am convinced that approximately 1 day after someone says something, like myself and 1 other posted the other day that Yarran is underrated, you say it yourself.

I don't think the problem is actually our small defenders. Players like Waters and Nico are good enough.

This year the problem was the supply from the opposition's midfield. Our midfielders were shit at applying pressure.

It's pretty hard to defend good supply.

McGinnity and Scotty Selwood will play defensive roles in the future.

Why dont people like Yarran. I rate him very highly but it seems no one rates him on BF.

I dont know if someone posted something bad and now everyone is on the bandwagon.

All the Phantom Drafts ive seen hardly any have Him in the top 10
Also no one had Hill in the first round, some not even in the first 2 rounds. Until i put him in mine.

Also the reason i put Johnston to Adelaide at pick 10 is because ive heard Trengove does not want to come to Adelaide

You have never seen Swift play which we worked out on the Bombers board:eek: You are then saying Swift is a safer option when he hasnt played a zack in 2 years:eek: Thank goodness you are not drafting full stop.

I rate Yarran but not at pick5. I would not be that unhappy with Yarran at pick 12 (if we get it for Lovett +pick23)

Swift is a footballer. There is my argument. Naituai is a athlete that will hopefully make it as a footballer. Sorry, but that to me is too risky. We need a safe choice at pick 5 rather than a potential pick.

stop talking sh1t, until yiu havew seen the players in question you are in no position to comment or make judgement on their capabilities. End of story

Waters and Nicoski are certainly good players, i'm not questioning their ability at all. However they have both missed games during the last couple of seasons through injury. McGinnity also had a bad year with injuries last season while Scott Selwood certainly shows promise. My concern that we need another small defender was prompted by the knowledge that our existing small defenders have been shown to be a bit injury prone and the fact that we have been carved up at various times by good small forwards !

You make out that Nic Nat cannot play football at all, which is grossly unfair.

He's just a little rough around the edges.

Too much of the pick will be on potential. I would rather take a guy who has been playing footy theor whole life and has the footy smarts like Hurley, Ziebell, Hartlett, etc
