We're a population of entitled greedy muts. clearing supermarket shelves and forcing Large corperations to try to help the elderly do a weekly shop is a disgrace.

Bloody Coles is more compassionate then Karen across the street. If you see anyone price gouge anything out of boots of cars or gumtree it's your right as Australia to rid them of their abundance of crop and distribute it upon the needy. I finally got 36 rolls of toilet paper (Would of loved to buy 8, as 36 is going to last me to mid august) and by the time im home i have 24 since ended up giving a couple to people annoyed at the shops.

Looking at houses in NZ as we speak.

im sure there is a nationalistic w***er who will remark "Good we wont miss ya!" for that remark, but feeling mutual unfortunately

Your first two points I agree with, but the sooner Churches and organised religion die off the better off we'll be.

There is definitely a great need for the community aspect that churches provide, but I think we can achieve that in other ways.

Unfair. Whilst those things are true, they also do a lot of good. Yeah some of it might be under the perception that they'll burn in hell if they don't, but organisations like St Vinnies and the Salvos for a start pick up a lot of slack whilst the rest of society looks out for number 1.

At a communal level it is.

We have replaced religion with consumerism. McDonalds is God now. He's right.

That said, I wouldn't draw any conclusions from how people have been behaving recently and call it anything new. People have been behaving like this for hundreds years in times of crisis.
