The one thing I do want to know is how the winners of series 1 are actually doing?

Ash and Amanda Huish (they got married) are closing down Room 19. They have to close it down because the building the restaurant is in is getting demolished and they can't afford to relocate, they aren't too happy either, Channel Seven screwed them over. The business was good but they can't keep going because of the demolition.

MMR is crap though, and i don't think there will be a 3rd series.

Thanks for the update Ljp86. Sad news about Ash and Amanda- seems like Channel 7 did screw them over indeed with the location but I am sure that was one of the "terms and conditions" of their contract and lease no doubt.

They aren't too happy about it either, Amanda had already gone back to her old job of being a wine consultant but now Ash has to find some work as well.

I always thought that whoever won it was giving up a lot. I did not think the winners would last more than 2 years, given how many restaturants actually fail these days.

The business was doing fine, until the building got the go ahead to get knocked down.

Go the Goose! :)

I felt a bit sorry for Bella though in Sydney, I think Evan really lost it for her

Just wonder what makes you say that? Not saying he isn't annoying though.

Personally I'm glad the Goose won because I found John and Justinne more endearing. Even though it's just through a camera, I couldn't get myself to like Bella. Seems to have a real bitchiness about her and wouldn't be surprised if the comments she made about Fran and Brisbane cost the restaurant some votes.

Although I haven't seen as much of this series as the first, I still enjoy watching MRR and hope it returns sometime.. it doesn't necessarily have to be next year. It's a good show though.

My thoughts:
6. The next series should have no chefs allowed to make it more interesting with the couples trying to get restaurant experience on the fly.
After Whisk was shut down I wanted Greedy Goose to win because one of the owners was a chef. To me, that's what My Restaurant Rules is about, not a couple floating around the room shaking hands while others do the work.

I thought Dicko did a far better job that Curtis Stone. Matt Moran knows what he's talking about but why is Patrick Collins there? Why not just get Carson from Queer Eye rather than a poor immitation.

John & Justine were always going to win. The couple with kids "the battlers" vs the "beautiful people".
That's how Aussie reality shows are decided.
Look at the Big Brother winners: BB1 Ben (I'm going blind), BB2 Peter (My parents are dead), BB3 Regina (I'm so stupid you have to feel sorry for me).

I hope some of the losing couples open and run their own restaurants. I'd like to see Nathan & Georgia do well along with Todd if he can stop his wife's annoying singing. Andre should do something about the Niagara Falls under his armpits if he wants to work anywhere near food. That would put me off my tucker if he was seated at the next table, let alone running the place.

Well I sort of agree with you, but I think it should be one or the other ie; all chefs or no chefs. Wholeheartedly agree about Mr New Idea, he was there for window dressing and the bitch factor only and it was totally unnecessary. In many cases, he simply tried to provoke situations for the sake of the cameras.

As for John and Justine being battlers, well that's not quite true. Both have had fairly successful careers in the hospitality industry, they live in a leafy foothills suburb and have never seemingly struggled for a quid. They are, however, far more endearing than the Silver Spoon Queen and the cocky shortass. That said, Evan and Bella did surprise me with their application to the task.

Andre should cut his apron strings and go on that "Biggest Loser" show, now that's one he could win. Fat, sweaty and red hair, not the ideal ingredients and it was prety obvious from week 1 that they wouldn't win. Oh well will be interesting to see if they do it all again.

There's a series in iself watching Andre limp from one disaster to the next in setting up his own restaurant.

Will 'The Goose' survive without the hype of a hit TV show behind it?

Lots of good restaurants in Adelaide - what makes their's stand-out from the rest?

There will be some initial momentum from the show, but it will quickly have to stand on its' own two feet. As has been mentioned previously, they will have to adjust their pricing. In addition they will have to broaden the menu a little and a fair bit of money will need to be dedicated to marketing and ensuring that the bookings are full in advance.

I think it stands a good chance as Melbourne St. is a good location and they are in the right location for the middle to upper level diners, that are prepared to pay for good food and service. If they market well and find a niche with the local businesses during the week, then the weekends will look after themselves. The key for them will be to ensure that they start this immediately, rather than suffering a temporary letdown. Momentum is what they have on their side if they are good enough to use it. Time will tell.
