I actually like Sydney but I may be biased because of my love for Bella. :cool:

Car parking has nothing to do with the ambience of a restaurant. You'd be very lucky to find street parking for places like Flower Drum, the Grossi Florentino, Tetsuya's, Rockpool or any other of Australia's great restaurants.

I suspect that even if Neil Perry was working in the kitchens of Louvre, the woman from Adelaide would still have rubbished the food.

I honestly don't know much about the restaurants you've mentioned but I assume their in exotic locations or on Sydney Harbour etc, in those situations you don't expect car parking so in those cases it wouldn't be a consideration - but if the Louvre is somewhere where nearby restaurants have parking you would notice it. In that situation for me as it impacts on how I see the restaurant it can impact on ambience.

(Have I mentioned I also have very limited taste in food - so don't go to good restaurants! :))

Plus they were told they had to come up with excuses, sometimes when you're coming up with excuses you clutch at straws...to be honest I had a friend over for dinner that night and we were talking so I didn't even know it was Justine who said it.

FWIW - I think Louvre is the best of the restaurants.
 
Why does the Chef in Brisbane find it necessary to say "YEAH" after every sentence ?

Went to Whisk tonight...Really enjoyed it...Food was excellent (loved the lamb), service was efficient, and both Nathan and Georgia sat down for a chat with us for about 10-15 mins each near the end of service. Both are really pleasant to talk to...really down to earth people. All the staff appear to be enjoying themselves and are good for a laugh or two. A lot more affordable than Pink Salt too...3 people at under $60 each.

So much better than my trip to Pink Salt. Go Melbourne!
 
The Brisbane parking thingi.

Park Rd in Milton where the restaurant is, has no parking.Its in the Suncorp precinct, no parking whatsoever for anyone including people who live there.Great public transport though, its just the wat the whole area is.All the restaurants int eh street are in the same boat.

I assume Fitzroy Street in Melbourne is still the same.

The Flower Drum is in Chinatown isn't it, I remember going there years ago, a brilliant restaurant.





I will have to ask my sister about the GG's parking.Although she is still cross about the performance in the restaurant last Friday night.

I will tell him that.Actually he is brilliant.He says that the people make you the money, be nice to your staff.You reap what you sow etc etc.

Now I need him to arrange for him to do atrip to Melbourne for us.

The Greedy Goose is in Melbourne Street in North Adelaide - there's no designated car park for it (or any other restaurant there - it's almost directly opposite my favourite restaurant in Adelaide) but there is some parking on Melbourne Street (though that fills fast) but there are quite a few side streets around it with free and available parking. (Which is where my boyfriend and I park when we go there) You'd walk 3 minutes from your car probably?

I think in Adelaide we're blessed with lots of side streets and not particularly busy areas...we take it for granted that you can pretty much find a park (some you pay for) near most if not every restaurant.

(Oh it also helps that our public transport sucks so everything needs to be fairly accessible by car!)
 
I read an article that the Sydney restaurant had to backpay staff over $8000, in incorrect wages, that they were fined.They also have to use paylsips, pay the right wages etc etc, just like any other business.

Apparently all staff not just the kitchen were paid wrong.
Glad I don't work for these germs.

I doubt that BDO (the chartered accounting firm that is advising all the teams in MRR) will be too rapt with that. It wouldn't reflect well on them that the accouting infrastructure that they would have set up for them hasn't worked.

I wonder if it's due to BDO giving incorrect advice or Evan just ignoring them? For my money, it's probably the latter.

My Restaurant Rules competitor Pink Salt has paid $8,000 in back wages.

The Manly restaurant had been under investigation following television footage capturing workers being told their pay had been cut and they would be placed on Australian Workplace Agreements.

"Pink Salt cooperated fully throughout the investigation and has made back-payments of $8,187 to 26 employees," NSW Industrial Relations Minister John Della Bosca said in a statement today.

"The restaurant is now complying with NSW industrial laws, including paying staff the correct rates, issuing pay slips and maintaining proper employment records."

Mr Della Bosca said the events at Pink Salt proved the federal government's proposed single industrial relations system, based on AWAs, would be used to lower wages and reduce working conditions.

"Staff at Pink Salt discovered first hand the financial impact of AWAs on workers and their families," Mr Della Bosca said.

"Luckily for them, they were able to use the safety net of the NSW industrial system, including award wages and a well resourced compliance team.

"If the federal government has its way, workers throughout the country will be subject to secretive AWAs under the federal system, with no effective way of fighting for their entitlements.

"The federal system is based on conflict, with no safety net and an inferior record on strikes, lockouts and the speedy resolution of disputes."

Yeah it ain't got nothing to do with how good you are or your food etc.Its only about how Channel 7 can edit the footage and get good ratings out of it.

Brisbane will go this week.

Sydney are teflon, they will probably win the whole thing.

Sad to see RL go.Although I have been told they will be opening another restaurant very soon.I will definatley be visiting it, as the food at RL was exquisite.

I also heard Andre had bought Mint Leaf and will be opening agains soon.

That's good that Todd and Francesca will open another restaurant, away from the camera, they'll be able to concentrate on their food and style.

Was kinda hoping they'd go but I'm confused as to why. Sydney will definetely go when they're up next time in nominations. Fran was surprisingly calm!
How funny were John and Justine, faking how sad they felt that Brisbane were gone...!
Their rivals are gone.

The thing that annoys me is that Evan & Bella thought Fran was lying about the reviews so Louvre would be safe etc etc. However, I think Justine was the one who was purposely giving Brisbane bad reviews, for every, single review.

Good luck to them, I'm sure they'll do well. If they ever get sick of the Brisbane sunshine, they can always open up in Melbourne.

I still reckon they had the best restaurant in the competition, but they didn't play the game at all well.

Did anybody else see the "spoiler" that was on Channel 9 news in Adelaide on Sunday night?

They had a camera crew outside the Louvre on Sunday afternoon and were talking to people that had come to lunch there, only to find that it had been shut down the night before.

Channel 9's spin on it was that it was misleading of Channel 7 to conduct a "live" shutdown on the Saturday night, instead of the Sunday, when it was actually televised. They were suggesting that Channel 7 has advertised the shutdowns as live, when I can't ever remember them saying that they were.

It was an obvious attempt to have people watching 60 Minutes instead of MRR, by publicising the result before the show started. I'm surprised I haven't read anything about it anywhere.

Thoughts?? Did this happen in other states too?
