What to do if you’re feeling unwell

If you are severely unwell, such as having difficulty breathing, call 000 (Triple Zero).

If you have travelled anywhere overseas in the past 14 days and have COVID-19 symptoms, seek testing at a COVID-19 clinic or contact your GP (advise your GP of your travel history) and isolate yourself.

Dear posters: unsubstantiated advice will be deleted. We understand you want to help, but #fakenews blah blah blah we're not allowing any disinformation. Got some great advice about washing your hands whilst dancing like David Byrne in Once In A Lifetime helps kill the virus? That's fantastic, provide a link to a reputable source.

This is scary for me but I totally agree with her on this. But that Outsiders program though is ultra right wing with all its views. Those other 2 clowns on there with her are similar and throw in Mark Latham. It must kill them to admit what ScoMo has done although socialist is good. They cheer everything Trump does although Labor does shoot itself in the foot constantly. Rita probably was one of those cheering when Holden's stopped and Toyota pull out. The result was escalation of Australian manufacturing companies closing down. You get what you wish for sometimes.
I'll just bite my tongue instead of starting another Political shitfight...It was the message within, nothing Political in what she said.

Hard to disagree with anything Rita says here...

First. Nice words as usual but why did we become so dependent on China? That is the first question for governments and business to answer.

Second. This was a health issue, first and foremost, but it has now become an economic one.

Certain people will rewrite history to ensure to avoid scrutiny.

Trust is gone mate.
No Country will ever trust China again..

Porbably the only positive to come out of all this.
Was asked that Question late last week,
My Answer was to look at the History, The Trust in China has dropped to its lowest levels since 2003, SAR's in which China made the same calls,
However, China was able to fight back due to increase spending overseas, gain control of several Organisation including WHO,
But doing the same thing they are currently doing Firstly they ensure there own Population believes them buy allowing only one story their story to be told,
They then inform their Ambassadors to disrupt/spread rumours, and influence people via social Media and China along with Russia are the world leader in that area, the West has only recently woken up to the effects of Social Media and started to fight back,
Next if Financial Goodwill, ie medical supplies to counties in need, Financial Aid all at a cost.
Later in 10 years it will debt control, as they will be behind the big spenders and groups handing out the loans need for the country to get by.
During this time they will be paying overs for resources (100-year lease agreements,)And some countries will be thankful
Then they will hold countries up for ransom, ie fully controling dock here a military base there, maybe an Airfield.

However, in saying that, they are not perfect and made a major Blunder in the Actions, in their attempts and success in taking over the South China Sea,
They have forced every Asian country in and around the South China Seas to invest heavily in there Blue Navy, and force two opposing enemies to become friends and forge strong ties, in USA and Vietnam, They even manage to force the Philipines to reverse their decision to push the US completely out out
How this Virus affect that will be a tough call, but they are already attempting the goodwill fight, and have removed all foreign correspondents from China so they are following the same playbook.

The best thing we can do in Australia is to stop them buying critical land and resources,
Which we have done after recently passing a laws in regards to foreign ownership, and a recent ban on foreigners from purchasing business and households/land closed due to the Virus,
Secondly, we need to ensure the Pacific Islanders are not affected and forced to receive Chinese money placing them in debt.
And we need to keep an eye on New Guinea, and quite possible New Zealand to ensure they do not become indebted to China,
Indonesian a different story our concerns there are more about radical's taking over,

Just curious until recent I did not know how many Ambassadors there were on Australia Social Media, the number's I have seen is staggering.

I’m hoping we find renewed vigour into reestablishing necessity manufacturing here. It’s fabulous that some companies are re-tooling so they can help out... I hope this continues and we see a more flexible approach.

There is the SA company who retooled and are making surgical masks.

After all this is over the state and Federal governments should ONLY buy this stuff from Aussie companies, bugger the extra few cents per mask it may cost more than some China crap.

Keep manufacturing in Australia, with China's abysmal level of hygiene/food practices we are going to keep getting these viruses.

Would kill businesses such as mine where we buy products that at gst free and when we put them together and sell them they have gst.

Well the debt will have to be repaid somehow and that is probably the most efficient.

Or alternatively, defer the tax cuts, remove franking credits refunds for those that pay no tax, negative gearing are some other ways.

The debt has to be repaid.

China effectively owns most of Cambodia and who knows how much of Vietnam (another communist country). Good luck stopping them.

It would be so amazing if the Libs had to take those measures. They probably won't though. Could you imagine the backlash?

The American govt. is selling medical equipment to private firms who then sell it on to the highest bidding state. It's all just a massive grift so Trump and his buddies can make money.

Some of these companies are only 3 weeks old. So a brand new company somehow has 100 million new masks to sell to states and won’t tell anybody where they got them. This is what Junkyard Jared meant when he said the federal stockpile isn’t for the states, it's for private companies.

That is shocking, absolutely appalling. Disgraceful letting ‘the free market’ manage the distribution of critical health care. What next, the fire department auctioning off what fire they respond to ?

I could almost forgive the middle-man getting a cut if the supplies were getting where they're needed. Given how many governors, from both sides of the aisle, are pleading with the federal government for supplies though, it clearly isn't working.

Regarding your quip about the fire brigade, that's actually happened before in Ancient Rome. This was taken from wiki.

"The first ever Roman fire brigade was created by Crassus. He took advantage of the fact that Rome had no fire department, by creating his own brigade—500 men strong—which rushed to burning buildings at the first cry of alarm. Upon arriving at the scene, however, the fire fighters did nothing while Crassus offered to buy the burning building from the distressed property owner, at a miserable price. If the owner agreed to sell the property, his men would put out the fire, if the owner refused, then they would simply let the structure burn to the ground. After buying many properties this way, he rebuilt them, and often leased the properties to their original owners or new tenants."

I think generally all of the governments have stepped up except that bloody cruise ship. The National Council has been a very good idea and everyone is working together. All these actions by the State Leaders would have been discussed at these meetings and ScoMo has said the States will go it alone on some measures, which is smart as not all States are in the same position.
NSW police commissioner has commented that an investigation needs to be done into the operators of the Ruby Princess to determine if they’re liable for prosecution.

Not sure that means an investigation willl commence though

Interesting development...

Coronavirus: Passive vaccines could ‘borrow’ immunity to protect frontline health staff
Frontline health workers could be immunised against COVID-19 within weeks, using a technique that saved the lives of countless children a century ago and won the first Nobel prize in medicine.
An effective vaccine takes at least 12 months to develop, but “passive” immunisation that “borrows” the antibodies of recovered patients could give hospital staff stopgap protection, safeguarding their health, morale and expertise for future pandemics.
“Those people need to have something more than masks, gloves and a face shield,” says virologist Damian Purcell of the Melbourne medical research centre the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity.
“Passive immunisation could prevent them acquiring infection if it works in the correct way.”
New York lost its first two nurses to COVID-19 by March 31. China’s virus whistleblower Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist, was an early victim. In Italy, the death toll among physicians has passed 60. And Britain’s first doctor (Adil El Tayar, 63, a transplant specialist) died on March 25. Almost 14 per cent of Spain’s coronavirus cases are medical staff.
Doctors in several countries are alerting authorities to the value of passive immunisation, and Sydney surgeon John Stephen, who has an interest in immunotherapy, has urged government to get moving on public awareness and logistics.

We really do need to push harder into new markets and spread the risk.India and Indonesia have a similar population as china. They are both democracies. I think there is a lot of potential with all of Asia.

For sale: supply chain for the western world. Lowest bidder to comply with ethics, quality assurance and other t&c’s wins.

Nah, let's not try to rewrite history here.

The states grabbed Scomo by the nose and dragged him into action.

Tasmania closed its borders before Australia clunked into gear and started moving. Other states soon followed.

The states didn't even pretend to listen to federal advice about schools. Most went it alone.

Self-isolation rules largely rolled out by the states hence the different rules in each state.

The medical response is also state based. Been numerous cases of state medical advice disregarding the federal advice.

States are closer to the people they represent than the bureaucrats in Canberra. They proved to be the spearhead of the response.

What the fed govt has done well is gear up the economic response once the virus got loose and the economic chaos began.
No definitely not rewriting History It was decided early this was an Australia issue, not an individual state issue, and the states, all agree to sit at the table and make decisions base on this committee rulings
And as mentioned several times each State needed to have different rules based on their own states demographic. which was understood and each state express the wishes and Idea's NT was the first due to it's Indigenous Population which need to be protected
Tasmania closed it borders earlier base on a decision from the National Committee suggesting state with minimal Virus case should strongly look at closing their borders, They then suggest every stat should look at closing their borders,
You do Understand closing State border can only be approved at the state level
As for the School which state did not listen, Don't mention Victoria who only brought forward the school Holidays a couple of days, like most others,
Suggest you read The Australian Health Sector Emergency Response Plan for Novel Coronavirus is was Publish Feb 7th,

You do realise that an emergency like this cannot be solved at the state level and from January every state was involve in this committee,

is the world a better place and standard of living better now than it was in the 70s and 80s when china wasnt a power?
Apparently the 70’s is classified the peak in Australia .. taking into account standard of living, access to education and the overall ‘happiness’ of the population
