I just can't see us getting close in this game to be honest.

But anyway, here is my side:

B. Whelan Ferguson Carroll
HB. C.Johnson Rivers Ward
C. Johnstone Moloney Sylvia
HF. Davey Holland McLean
F. Robertson Neitz Yze
R. White Read McDonald
Int. Brown, Green, Bizzell, P.Johnson

In. McLean (finally!), CJ, PJ
Out. Bruce (yes, that's right), Wheatley, Williams

Wheatley seems to have been getting away with mediocre performances all year. Well not anymore!

Someone needs to be made an example of. I went with Bruce, but it could have been Green, Bizzell, Brown etc...

I like the ins. The idea is right with the outs, but I think Green would be a better example than Bruce. We forget he had a bad shoulder injury, although that's no real excuse. Green has been horrible for weeks, and last night he had 4 touches. Drop him instead. At least Bruce can play in more positions.

Carroll out instead of Wheatley, and drop Williams like you said, and it's pretty close.

I would love to drop Holland but I don't think we can afford to. I just hope that McLean can come in, and I agree with the idea that one of the leadership group players that aren't performing (Bizzell, Brown, Bruce, Green etc etc) needs to be dropped to send the message. Kinda agree about Wheatley. They will play Pavlich, McPharlin and Sandilands/Longmuir. Not sure how we will matchup on that though. Ferguson got killed last time and when Rivers went on McPharlin he shut him down, while Pavlich also dominated us. Let's not forget the Wiz  .

Hi guys,
Gotta say disappointed with your guys at the minute. Thought they were top four for sure. Hopefully they can turn it around.
Was just wondering how Paul Johnson is going in the VFL and whether he has done much at AFL level in the couple of games he played.
Really disappointed me with his lack of development at West Coast, looked like being good but just didn't seem to work hard enough in the WAFL.
Didn't use his size to advantage enough either, which should be his big strength.
Was clearly ahead of Hansen and now look how Hansen is doing.
Where is Johnson at now?

if u want to make an example by dropping a leader, make it brown, we cant afford to loose bruce. on the huge subiaco ground he will be able to find space and i can see him having a good game. bizzell is still needed down back and green could be utelised as a full forward if he cant cut it in the midfield during this form slump.

mclean - williams
paul johnson - mcdonald

dunno bout chris johnson...we need holland. this time he should play CHF cos robbo was useless there against the swans, just 2 small. it also took away his goalkicking ability as he was playing 2 far from goals. imagine if he had kicked his regular 3-4. much different game

He is killing them at VFL level. Done alright in his 5 or so games at AFL... hasn't been given much of a go which doesn't help.

I doubt he'll be as good as Hansen but I'm happy with the trade. PJ will be a good AFL player in time.

PJ was woeful for us, getting pick 29 we thought was an absolute steal, he was in line for delisting. He was dropped back to the Swan Districts (WAFL Team) Reserves and produced absolutely nothing for us. Whoever said he was ahead of Hansen is smokin something, PJ wasnt ahead of anyone.

Interesting to see him in the ruck though. We never played him there for obvious reasons (we didnt need another ruckman). Where abouts does he play in the VFL.

with his huge size he will be good for us since white is of the dying breed of short atheletic ruckman that the AFL is trying to fade out by introducing the new circle.

Can't understand you Dees fans, Yze is clearly being wasted in the forward line. Spent the majority of the game in the forward pocket last night and he was goalless! His best position is clearly in the midfield! Neale Daniher, please realise this!

I'm a huge fan of Colin Sylvia, but he struggled for the second week in a row. Where is his best position? I'm asking this because he dominates up forward in the VFL, but for Melbourne he spends most of the time on the wing and often can't seem to find the footy.

Are you the dream team guy again?

Firstly, it's been speculated that Yze has an injury (which personally, I doubt), but he's had a good season in the Forward pocket so far - excluding the last few games. When all was going well, Yze was best in the FP because the midfield is choca block.
Secondly, Sylvia played OK. 6 kicks, 3 handballs and 1 goal is not bad compared to the effort of some on sat night.

Wizzy won't be playing, he did a hammy last week.

Yze is still clearly not fit. He still wears protective gear under his guernsey from the shoulder injury earlier this year. He was great early on, and he filled the hole Vardy left like only Yze can. But we need something in the middle, and it's time we used him in there a bit more often. He should rotate with Green.

Sylvia's best spot is in the middle. You have to remember he's still only a second year player, so he won't get tons of possessions every week. He still gets stints up forward, but he's getting a good chance through the middle and it will only help his development.

Thought I saw Miller saying he would be right to go this week?....Surely he'd be the first in?

IN: C.Johnson, P.Johnson, Armstrong, McLean (if fit)
OUT: Brown, Holland, McDonald, Wheatley

I'm giving the likes of Bruce, Green and Yze another chance, particulary as i think we should use a mobile forward line on the big Subiaco oval, hence the dropping of Holland. Even if Miller was close, i think we should give him another week, we couldn't afford to lose him for 3-5 weeks.

i wouldnt drop wheatley for armstrong. also i'd rather junior then armstrong 2. wheatley can provide us something down back. i remember he had a very good game vs brisbane.....considering how ******** we played overall.

holland has to play at CHF. he can stand there on the 50 for all i care, just take a mark and stay away from goals while keeping robbo close to goals

Green Robbo and Neitz all working out of the goalsquare with neitz sometimes pushing up to the 50

I agree blangerang although you're being generous putting neitz in the side. I think he should have a rest this week and neil daniher should hold down the forward line.

Seriously you're the idiot. Can you honestly say that you prefer Adem Yze stuck in the forward pocket, rather than in the middle delivering awesome passes to one of the best forwards in the game?

Melbourne have a strong forward line consisting of Neitz, Davey, Robertson and Holland. The midfield is under scrutiny, with players such as Bruce and Green both under pressure to keep their spot in the team. There is a good chance Yze is the solution to the midfield woes.

And I know Neale Daniher is a pathetic coach, but you can at least spell his name correctly!

The problem is the reason we are getting beaten in the midfield is because players like Moloney, Junior and Sylvia don't get enough support because they get the hardball for us 90% of the time. Yze needs someone to get the ball for him and he wouldn't rack up enough clearances. Plus he is still carrying an unknown injury.
