If there is one thing I can't stand that is people taking credit for others work or achivments,

Sure there is nothing wrong with saying the team I support played well or they were great but when people start saying OH WE (as the person speaking had contributed to the win or what ever)Beat your (your meaning the team you are responisble for or that you had something to do with the teams loss or win)
its these comments that make me sick
and why well over the years I've seen alot of people take credit for other work, people who bust there guts or creat something on there own only to have that credit taken away by someone who thinks they are responible and should be awarded for the achivement,

We = a group of people or couple

Your = something that belongs to you or an action that you are responsible for

My = something that belongs to or is that persons responsiblilty

If there are any people out there that have a brain and can see my view then I tip my hat to you, but to all the others out there just think about it for a minute,
if you did something or created something and other people took credit for it just because they like or believe in you would you like it, I doubt it

Its just an interesting point I thought I would make.
thank you

And your point was shithouse

Tho people do financially commit to their club, by membership, merchandise, gate receipts from games etc etc etc, then effectively their financial contribution helps keep the clubs running, so bestowing the term 'we' when referring to their selected club, is fine by me.

I personally just can't stand those that have it both ways, 'WE did great' when they win, and 'THEY were shite' when it is a loss.......

Ok sorry I should Of said that the people who have nothing to do with the club shouldn't say stuff like that,
Members have every right to take some credit
My point is directed at those bandwaggon supporters who have never done anything at all for the club they apparently follow
if you get my drift

"We (referring to the club I am a member of and therefore a part of) won", is perfectly legitimate as far as I am concerned. Most thinking people that hear that statement to... obviously realise that you were not a member of the team that is representing the club...and won the match on your behalf. Should the Brisbane Lions ever win a premiership, I will be stating that 'we won' the premiership and as a paying member I am perfectly entitled to do so. The team are playing on my behalf and as a paying member of the club, I along with many others contribute in a small way to the team's wages, making me essentially their part employer.
It's also a bit like saying..."we (Australia )won the Olympics". I am an taxpaying Australian citizen therefore I am part of that and entitled to say 'We'...even though I was not a part of the actual bidding team and cannot take any direct (or even indirect) credit for the success of that bid.

It is possible to feel a part of something that makes you feel good. If you feel part of a club's culture, then I have no problem with people saying "we." I only have a problem with the people who loudly proclaim the feat and treat it as though it makes "them" superior to others. In this case, it is the players that are superior to the opposition players, not the fans superior to the opposition fans. They just happened to back the winner and collect the emotional payout. You don't see winning punters at the track taunting the ones that lost. They collect their money and go home happy while the others trudge home a little lighter in the pockets.

No biggie this one. Are we really becoming THIS politically correct?

Bert,

I don't think this is a big problem at all.

However I do tend to agree with Danni. There's nothing wrong with people referring to their team as we after a win, providing they don't suddenly start referring to their team as they after a loss.

Barrackers (whether members or not) should also be able to take credit, if they are vocal enough, and engender enough vocal support from others around them (visual support in club colours too) to help lift a side.
