Gday, first of all this is not a troll. I like the Dockers, I am from Fremantle and they are my second favourite team. This is just me posting my thoughts on what I saw of the game and I'd just like to hear what people think.
Now I havent seen too much of your boys this year, WCE game thought they were pretty good but not playing to their potential, against Melbourne I thought was their best game ever and Geelong they were very impresive.
I chucked the TV on at the start of the final quater and could not believe what I was seeing. I have a soft spot for Freo as said before but if I was a payed up member I would be furious with some of the rubbish that I saw. Tackles being broken, defenders going for marks instead of spoiling, players losing their feet, not hitting targets and generally showing no heart and desire to play football.
The only logical excuse for this was that there was alot of young blokes (who I will talk about later) out there who would've been buggered and the intesity therfore dropped off. But some culprits were expereinced players like Black, Carr, Hasleby and most notably Medhurst (who isn't as bad as some WCE fans like to beleive but still doenst do himself many favours).
Now the positives, some blokes who I was impressed with, Cook always liked him, gives it his best, knows his limitations and plays within the, and bleeds purple. Farmer who does all the team things and unrewarded running and such. Shcammer who is absolute quality and will be a star and then the youngsters.
One thing I noticed is how undermanned your defence was (I know it doesnt take a genius
). But seriously Haddrill, McPharlin and Polak are all quality. Imagine taking, Macquire, Reiwoildt and Gherig out of Saint Kilda. They would fall to peices, but your young defenders (although fighting out of their wieght division and losing) showed tremendous spirit I was particulary impressed with Wilson, Thorton (who I am growing to like) and Mundy.
Although there is alot of pain seeing your boys losing, having the youngsters play under this pressure in situations like today (throwing them in the deep end if you will), will have long term benifits as they will take alot out of it and become better players.
I was wondering when Haddrill and McPharlin will be back? And do you think that the team will left on their return. Do you still believe/think you can make the finals and what do you think should be done with guys like Medhurst who always seem to fall down when they are most needed.
Good luck to your boys (except for round 21 or 22 whenever
) and I'll be following their progress with interest.
Cheers
