Well, despite some reasonably interesting but not altogether trustworty arguments from Barry Armstrong the other night, I'm still thoroughly convinced that Carlton One is the way to go in respect of the future direction of the Carlton Football Club.
John Elliot and friends have proven themselves to be totally underhanded in their dealings in respect of purchasing multiple memberships and giving them to people who are simply then signing over proxy forms.
Today I read that Carlton One is mounting a supreme court challenge in respect of 1,000 new registered voters / members about whom the current Board refuses to release information - presumably because under the constitution, these voters are not actually eligable to vote.
Also, Colin de Lutis has admitted to purchasing 40 honorary memberships for staff in his business, some of whom arn/t even Carlton supporters. - For all we know, he's giving the right of determination about the future of Carlton FC to staunch Collingwood supporters and that simply isnt right.
The current board has led us to our first wooden spoon, has led the club into its first year of debt that I can recall (I've been followign the Blues since I was about 7 years old, and I'm now 34 years old), is not contemporary in its view of how the Club is run and does not run the affairs of the Club, particularly the financial affairs of the Club with any sort of transperancy, seemingly with little regard to the needs and wants of the members.
The Club desperately needs change, desperately needs to become a modern AFL Club, and the need for any sort of stability that the current board claims it can maintain is totally overwritten by the need to change the direction of Carlton Football Club, so that it can return to its rightful position as a champion football club in the modern era of the game.
Please consider carefully your options in terms of voting tomorrow night. The future of our great Club is in your hands.
