You'd think the big boys will be back for this game with several given extended opportunities.

Wouldn't surprise for the team to look something like this:

Buckley Rowe White
Docherty Jaksch Sheehan
Boekhorst Gibbs Dick
Bell Henderson Tutt
Menzel Casboult Jones

Warnock Judd Murphy

Carrazzo Graham Byrne Smith.

OK to give Thomas Cripps Wood Simpson a rest given they have played two weeks already.

swap murphy with either cripps or thomas and i think youve got it right...
murphy wont play till at least last nab game...at least from what im hearing..

You're forgetting that it'll be ~23 days between games for Thomas by the time this rolls around, and anyone who played vs. WCE will have had a 16 day break.

Only 2 pre-season games left, which means we'll be fielding as close as we can to our best teams with some tack-ons for depth. Put the backups and youngsters who aren't going to see themselves in the round 1 team into the NB matches (intra this Friday, another game on at the same time as the Collingwood game).

We've only played one NAB match, but we're already at the pointy end of the pre-season.

Also, you can include another 4 names for the finalised squad.

You're right. I forgot Thomas missed the last game.

We haven't seen Gibbs at all yet. Must be good cotton wool we have him wrapped in.

I can't see the point of playing those that won't get a look in from this point on.
Just mix the best 35 odd and sync up the game plan.

Anyone else think that levi looked quicker and more mobile in the 1st nab game?
Most definetly, he impressed me when he was able to get near it. Tackling, marking and disposal were effective and quick.

Expect a full side!

Gibbs, absolutely flying...!

We play our last NAB cup match in March 22 and then there is still 11 days before we kick off round 1. We will still end up having another scratch match somewhere before we play the Tigers and that is another week to get fitness into whoever we need to before the season proper.

The proliferation of game plans where on occasion you can have one team so much better drilled than another, makes the pre season games an even bigger joke, sometimes.

When a team fields a very undermanned side, as we did in R1 this year, it almost makes the game a pointless endeavour ... pardon the pun there but 'pointless' is actually a good description, as a bunch of kids, rookies and first year players running around with no semblance of cohesion and game plan against a well drilled, mostly senior side results in a first quarter where we looked like for the most part we'd put up a big doughnut

That game was near useless for Carlton really.

Murphy not playing this week (confirmed on AFL website)

If he doesn't play in the final NAB challenge game, then its time to worry.

Why? The club have already said he's injured. It's not a surprise he isn't lining up in this one.

Yeah Gibbs said that in his press conference, if he's not back for this one, then definitely next week vs Geelong, I think he's ok!! I hope:confused:
