Dont think so. Read an article on him that quoted him as saying not one afl club has spoken to him but plenty of state league teams have. I dont understand it considering how slim the chances are of any footballer being able to kick 150 goals in a season at any level.

Happens everywhere. Most leagues, anyway. They're often big fat buggers paid by the goal who aren't interested in the slightest in pushing themselves to a higher level.

Maybe a few fat blokes around kicking around 100 but not 150. Weeks isnt a fat lazy bloke anyway, was selected for Vic Country U/18 two years in a row but got a stress fracture in his foot before the second years games.

Swap 'fat lazy bloke' for 'bloke entirely happy with kicking bags in a lower league'.
If they don't want to test themselves, you're pushing it uphill to start with.

Or a country kid who i think has a share in the family farm. He was in the system was poorly coached from a junior level and told he would only make it if he played on ball and half fwd. Bendigo was a basketcase when he was there, not much incentive.

Well now this thread is getting silly, but seriously i hope we stick to the cause and draft a couple of midfielders with our first 2 picks, it wont be great if Neagle gets picked up by someone else, especially if it's carlton and he kicks a bag against us.

With Gumby's injury I hope for our sake that Neagle doesnt get drafted and instead picked up by us in the rookie draft when he has done the hardwork to improve himself....

What are you basing the 1% interested on? Same place you got the he's fat and lazy? :rolleyes: Shane Mumford would not be playing AFL if Geelong didnt take a risk, Isaac Smith played 6-7 games of VFL and is being talked up as a top 30 pick. Im suggesting he would be last pick of ND or rookie selction IF somebody else choses to pick up Neagle considering we would be left with a lack of FF options if this was the case. I'd say none of the 18 year olds available with that pick would ever kick 150 goals in a season in any backwater league let alone one of the stronger country leagues in Vic. How many goals did Serhat Temel kick this season?

Shane Mumford got himself to Geelong VFL, did well there & lost 20kg odd before being rookied.
If Weeks comes back to VFL, shows he can get fit enough he'd be worth a look.
FWIW I think we should look at Duscher who (AFAIK) was playing country footy last year, then VFL this year.
Big difference between guys who went to, and a guys who just left, VFL.
Upwards curve v downwards curve.

Brisbane seem almost certain to take Polec now. I still think Richmond will take Heppell at 6 instead of Conca, although he is being linked with richmond at 6 alot. Definitly not worth a pick 6. Richmond also need more outside/HBF players than inside hard nuts like Conca. They already have (Cotchin, Martin, Foley) who are all hard nosed inside mids who are quite young.

GC not to keen on Heppell but maybe they just thought that he would never be an option.

Daffeys mock draft has us getting

8 - Atley
31 - A.Young
48 - S.Crockey
64 - L.Mitchell
80 - Isiah Stevens

That would be a magical draft for us. I think Bipolarbear must know something in regards to Atley and Gutherie who seem our most likely to be picked for the first 2 rounds.

Yeah id prefer Parker, but Young is also rated quite nicely. Hes probably picked around where he should go.

If we are able to land Mitchell at 60, I'll be a monkey's uncle. A very happy uncle, at that.

I would be stoked if Mitchell got to us, good to know we are keen on him. Give me

Atley, Gutherie, Crocker, Mitchell and a small forward type (Cooyou or I.Stevens maybe) and i would be very happy.

We might have to take Neagle at 64 if we really want to keep him, the saints are really keen on him.

If someone wants to take Neagle before the PSD/rookies, let 'em I say. He's waived all rights for us to "need" or chase him.
Means we don't have to pay all of his contract for one thing.
