Lamb is back where McInnes was when he started his career. East Perth to develop. He hasn't shown anywhere near enough to be in the 22 of a team that just played a grand final. We are heavily stocked with talls. Give him at least another year or 2.

Lamb is an up the ground CHF. Realistically we only have room for kennedy and darling as talls because of us always playing 2 ruckmen due to us playing to nicnat's strengths. With the Gov's flexibility there's just no spot for Lamb.

Looks to the East...

The fact that he hardly seems in the frame at all. He isn't obviously best 22 at the moment. McInnes seems to be the backup for tall forwards while Bennell is the small forward depth. So hes what backup backup tall forward depth?

I am relaxed and I am not flustered. It seems more like the Lamb fanboys don't like it when someone questions their deity. This forum has a bad habit for vastly overrating unproven youngsters.
McInnes is in the mix because we are still playing around with ruck options... http://www.westcoasteagles.com.au/news/2016-03-10/simpsons-ruck-conundrum

I still wish we were looking at Lamb's potential beyond a key forward role as at only 19yo he can't compare to Darling and JK. Currently though we have two extremely versatile players in Gov and Yeo. Both can play defence, both can play in the forward line. Yeo can play as an outside mid and possibly as an inside mid. Gov thinks he can also ruck at AFL level. That versatility is surely a massive advantage for us and will only become more so over time, especially with the reduced interchange cap.

I think we have two more potential versatiles waiting in the wings (pardon the pun) in Lamb and Snadden. I can see either being able to play anywhere from half back through to half forward. Given his endurance I think Lamb could do reasonably well on a wing - certainly giving another dimension (ie height and contested marking) to rotate in with Gaff, Jetta and Masten. And Snadden playing as a tall/athletic/big body on the inside like Redden.

Lamb really excelled in an AIS game playing on the wing in 2014 (http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...tory-over-european-legion-20140413-zqu2y.html). He did pretty well as a goal scorer for East Perth last year (averaging ~2 goals and he had a couple of bags of 4) and with McInnes and Allen in the mix maybe he'll be tried out on ball more in WAFL this year. I certainly hope so because then he will clearly fit in discussions about our B22 mix if he proves he has that kind of versatility.

It might not be this year but I'll happily be called a fanboy if it means we have another one or two talented and athletic versatiles to add to Yeo and Gov in the coming few years. There are some big bodied midfielders at other clubs, we need to find some more options ourselves.

Im personally not a fan of lamb being converted into a midfielder as we havent had great success turning junior key forwards into midfielders. I do like the idea of Lamb pushing up the ground and he does have the body type of Nick Riewoldt/Tom Lynch (adelaide). It would also be nice to see Lamb in defence as more an attacking type that can intercept and rebound from the back line. I was bit baffled why they kept on playing him as a deep forward in WAFL but it be that they want to develop him to be a well rounded forward that can play FF but can also push down the ground.

1 week late but Lecras seemed to be in a class of his own, covering massive ground, missed more shots than I'd like but his field disposal was brilliant, read the ball better than anyone else as well.

Gaff, Priddis, Shep all major reasons for the win. Expect a lot from Duggan so was let down by his disposal, went in hard a few times.

Also Butler, always controls the situation to perfection, feel sorry for him sometimes with what he has to clean up from others.

Having seen lamb in defence as a junior he was absolutely terrible.

Don't know where people get the idea that Nelson is limited on talent but works hard. His disposal is sound off both feet, he works hard but he's quite skilled as well.

Very skilled but in defence he narrows his focus to being a stopper (or at least has so far in his career), and doesn't get heaps of the ball. I expect him to be more confident and make better use of his offensive abilities this season.

Why is Redden under the radar???? You would think eagles fans would be more hyped about a possible 25- 30 disposal player
then 12-23 disposal player (jetta).

I have not seen redden play but anyone that has 25-30 disposals a game MUST be good or have an IMPACT.

After reading the last 2 pages. People need to chill. Its NAB FFS.

Without injuries. Lamb wont play all year. Nelson who is further along than Lamb will play a few, maybe.
But that's it. Partington, Snadden, Cole, Colledge, Lucas, Tunbridge wont play.
Barrass and McInnes will play a few and there's a chance one will show something and take the next step.

We are kicks away from a flag. Yes we sucked on GF day but none of these players including Lamb would have made any difference. Getting finals experience into our best 22 will give us what we need to go that next level.

Redden and Jetta over Rosa and Scooter full stop.

Not giving Lamb a game on Sunday is a mistake IMO. His potential is greater than his past. And greater than some other players potential. Last week his enthusiasm would have been very helpful

We are playing our "best" team, who does he replace?
We aren't a charity we are very much in a win now phase, young players must earn every second of game time they get.

Completely disagree sorry. If you can't discuss/debate your up-and-coming youngsters during NAB challenge when can you? NAB is the only time you get to see them playing against AFL quality opposition and getting some sense how they compare and if they are ready to play regular season.

Also, we are back even with every other team now. Might want to make the top 8 again first before we get too excited about being "kicks away from a flag". It's not even regular season yet FFS ;)

It's a Nab game. What about replacing Hill with Lamb. I reckon if he is not put in some game time he will loose interest. Good to see Karpany getting a game

If he loses interest he doesn't deserve to be on the list, if anything it should be a kick in the a$$ to buckle down and start dominating the WAFL.
It's professional sport, not U/12's. Pick the best available players to play the role best suited to the game style. Don't see Hill and Lamb competing for the same spot.

To be fair, Nelson's instructions last year would have been "Don't **** up". Sheppingham + Gov were the engine room turning defense into offence..

I am very bullish about Lord Nelson but I think he'll likely fly the flag less often this year than last through no fault of his own. Pre-season reports have been great on him and I thought he has done well enough in NAB seeing as we have been flat as **** so far.

Will still get more games than Duggan, barring midfield calamity. Ha-ha!

Because he's been injured for the last 2 years and his style of play is solid but not flashy. If he can get back to full fitness we've got a big bodied inside bull who is also a tackling machine, just what we need.

Jetta will grab the attention for his flashy play, but Redden will be the workhorse doing the dirty work to let him do that.

Very happy we got him and I'm bullish he will be a good player for us.
