I hope your right! I usually load my forward line with DPP players and the odd premium forward. He might slip in to my team as the season progresses

I tend to start with players I can rely on and rookies that are best 22... If someone like Darling has a break out season I upgrade said rookie to him. A lot of people feel like they need to start with every player that could improve- that's what trades/upgrades are for.

That said, some players you just KNOW are going to have a great year. Like Heppell and Martin last year, and Swallow (IMO) this year:)

No love for Darling? Reckon he can easily up his average to 85-90

Might be a good fwd pick. Been training through the mids this year and had stints in the middle vs freo. I'm also still keen on Sheed, while he didn't burn the house down apart from a couple of bad handballs I liked what I saw. Risk of vests of course, but so are nearly all rookies.

Masto bandwagon :)

He looks good doesn't he, and showed last season he can go big regularly. At the moment he's battling Rock, Jobe, Murphy and Scooter for a spot on my team, so wait and see.

Careful of Ellis - he will get the vest a bit I think.

Although hopefully that'd be in the 4th qtr and he'd have made plenty by then.
I just feel he'll be treated very carefully this year to make sure his body doesn't break down.

I'd probably still pick him, but maybe more as a bench player, as you can't always trust him to get a big score if the vest looms.

Simpson said he is most definitely a best 18 player when fit?

Yes, but he also said he's on a modified program and getting through a match is a big deal.

Skill-wise he's in the 22, but that doesn't mean he'll play the whole match, and given his previous injury concerns, a slight knock could see him miss a week to make sure he doesn't break down.

I'm just saying be careful - I'll have him in my team, but buyer beware.

Martin/Aish/Michie/Ellis/Crouch/Polec looking like the standout 6 rookie options so far in the middle.

Everyone's ruck rookies will probably be Currie and one of Nankervis/Derickx/Thurlow in DT

McDonald is the standout rookie defender. Kade Unspellable also appears to be a solid option. Langford has also been good for the Hawks, but will he actually get game time? Apart from then it's slim pickings. Fortunately there are more good DEF premiums this year to make up for it [McVeigh, Bartel, Mitchell, Hanley, Simpson, Hodge, not to mention tempting mid-pricers like Suckling and Swallow...haha...Suckling and Swallow :')]

There are hardly any stand-out rookie options up front. Rohan maybe? I'm not sure where Kersten is at. Bock won't play Rd1. A lot of the other half tempting rookies have terrible job security. To make matters worse, we don't exactly have a lot of great premiums to choose from this year (Dangerfield, Martin, Buddy, that's about it...Cloke too I guess). Hope a mid-pricer like Fasolo goes bang tonight to at least give us something.

agree with everything you've said, definitately a lack of good rook fwds but I also think there's alot of great leftfield midprice types in the forward line.

Mitchell, Parker, Walters, Pav, Gunston, Darling, Caddy, Wright and dare I say it given his cheap price...Higgins...

My cheapies at the moment are Rohan and Kennedy-Harris, keeping an eye on Newman at WC as there's a spot there for him should he impress in the rest of the PS

Yep, I think we know where Kersten is at now...

...on our benches ;)

Fuller not named yet again - might be time to start looking elsewhere.

Will be a terrific downgrade option later in the year if he doesn't get games early, however, so don't completely cross him off your list.

Got my eye on Tippett, Laidler and Cutler for the bench. Obviously we can go into round 1 without a bench if need be... So it all comes down to the Rd 2 teams.

Yep, they're my main targets as well. Also keeping a keen eye on Georgiou and Griffiths.

aaaand Daisy just found his way into everyone's team.
