Just got on us to win the NAB Cup... Paying $26. I think knights will want to do well as this is his first impression to all the doubters/haters... Go you Baby Bombers!!

Knights said in his Samsung press conference that besides Lloyd's hammy tightness, only Licha was in doubt for round one.
Lloyd should be right for Round 1 which is really what matters. Be good for him to get a match or two under his belt before the regular season. Hopefully he can catch the NAB Cup final;)
Disappointing to hear Winderlich having another injury concern. We saw that he could be very damaging when playing a full season, but his continuous injuries are very frustrating for him and the supporters.

My team for the game:

B: Slattery Michael Lovett Murray
HB: Nash Ryder Dempsey
C: Monfires Reimers Jetta
HF: Lovett Gumbleton McPhee
F: Davey Johns Lonergan

Foll: Laycock, Houli, Johnson

I/C: Dyson, Hille, Lee, Peverill

Other than Michael it is an interesting spine. Ryder may well play away from CHB in the future, but I feel he will remain at CHB for the majority of this season as Knights looks to further develop his game. He is a great utility. I have high hopes for Rreimers and hope he shows something on saturday. I see 09 being his year to really come along. Hopefully Gumbleton can play at CHF and his hamstring is alright. We need to get game time into this kid. Very promising player and lots of games early in his career, so long as he can handle it, should prove extremely beneficial for him in the long run. Johns will be given another crack at FF in this game. Played well in the intra club game and I think it will be Merrett that lines up on him. Hopefully he can put through 3-5 goals for us.
Extremely inexperienced side going into this game. Dont think we will get smashed, but could get run over later in the game. Am looking for a bright start enabling us to curtail there greater experience. Brown isnt playing so that is one major headache that we wont have to worry about. I think it may be tight with the Bombers winning by a couple of goals.

does anyone know essendon's full injury list?

Daniher (shoulder) - should be avaialble round 1
Williams (shoulder) - see above
Lloyd (hamstring tightness) - avialable/being rested.

A few of the boys are still on retricted programs but no other injuries as far as i know.

Jetta will dominate if played on the wing/MF as Knights said he will be.

Looked good when he pushed into the middle last week and even Davey would have been proud of some of his side steps/party tricks.

Disappointing about licker. Hopefully it's just a minor set back, even though he would've miss a fair chunk of the pre season....

Looking forward to seeing Chartres play as well. Thought he was pretty good last week considering how many times the ball got pumped down there.

Lovett isn't playing and the interchange has eight players.
Lovett isnt playing? Was looking forward to seeing him run out and hopefully continue his form from the latter part of last season. My other four on the interchange would be Myers, Hocking, Pears and Hooker.

Jetta oozes class. Not sure if he has the engine yet to run through the midfield but short stints would show us what he is capable of. Really I want him to be playing all 22 games this season and for him to lay a solid foundation for 09. Winderlich had a break out year last season, but I think it is too soon for us to expect Jetta to have his this year. As long as he stays fit, he should be in the side. He will form the backbone of our side in years to come along with Gumbleton, Houli, Ryder etc.

Hille or McPhee, which one for captain?

I'll vote for Smokey, Hille has had a crack at it before...
McPhee in my mind. May spur him on too better performances. Hoping he plays half forward this serason as I think he could be very damaging there. Plenty of leaders down at the Bombers.

Looks like Smokey will be at HF this year, played there in the intra club so Knights is staying true to his word. :thumbsu:

Plenty of leaders down at the Bombers.

8 in the leadership group. Jobe is the latest inclusion. :thumbsu:

Looking foward to seeing Dyson have a big game and a big season. THe 2 guys i'm really looking foward to having big seasons are probably the 2 that most Essendon supporters may have thought were a fair chance to go at the end of last year, Johns and Dyson. Johns has the potential to be anything, a strong CHB/FB who can easily beat his many in a marking contest, or a very good FF, quicker on the lead than most people believe and has an amazing kick on him, not only distance but accuracy. His main problem is he just doesnt seem to get into the game enough. A 15 possession game from him is worth a lot, would just like to see him do it a few more times. As for Dyson, became my favourite player the first time i saw him play. Beautiful kick, poise through the midfield, and pace! He's got everything going for him and i'm looking foward to seeing him play 20odd games this year, playing more than 40mins in them too.

From the squad, my team...

HB: Pears Chartres Slattery
B: Dempsey Ryder Myers
C: Dyson Lonergan Jetta
HF: Gus Gumby McPhee
F: Reimers Johns Hille
R: Laycock Houli Hocking
Inter: JJ, Pev, Dick, Nash, Michael, Atkinson, Magin, NLM

That's a pretty young team.

He's a good player, but because he's going to play most of the year i personally wouldnt be playing Mal. Give Ryder/Lee/Johns/Pears a whole game, see how they go. Mal can play the 22 games during the year, but for these 4 weeks, lets see how these blokes go.

They are definitely beatable even if we are missing the majority of our first team. Plenty of 'randoms' in each team and itll come down to which teams kids have a greater impact on the team.
I put in bold the players I expect to be in our next premiership team. Tthe ones Ii left out are either too old, not good enough or I havent seen enough to make a proper judgement on.
Hoping for blokes like Dyson and Johns to prove me wrong.

Agree. That's why I have Mal on the bench, purely as a back up.
