Rich's problem is that he hasn't developed into a genuine blue chip midfielder. Which is what we need.

If WC were to wait and see if Rich becomes a genuine blue-chip midfielder before they make a play for him, more will be asked from WC in return than what would be asked for at this point in time. Rich has the scope to become what WC need of a midfielder. He's already a very good player, but can, and I believe is going to, get better still. Rich, even at present, is a walk-up start in WC's midfield, IMO. Whether that's in the centre square or on a wing is debatable.

Walk up start for the 22 for sure. But i don't agree with the bold text.

Agree with EH. Rich probably isnt the difference between us being a great team and a premiership team. If you are lookign at young midfielders, Dustin Martin is probably more ideal for us.

What's this whole thing with Martin anyway? Discipline and attitude? On that basis you would take Rich.

Discussion is pretty pointless though.
Yeah, but its WC board on BF. Pointless jostleing, sledging and hanging shit on other posters is mandatory.
Not to mention the real stuff hasn't started yet, so we are all a bit wound up! :D

Had some troubles with enjoying the off season a couple of years back but has been been pretty professional this off and pre season. Stuff late last year is far too clouded to make any sense of (the sleeping through training thing).

Fact is, if he is operating at say 85%-90% while the really professional kids are at 95-100%, then when/if it clicks for Dusty he will be unstoppable.

I do wonder if the media would be nicer to him if he had ever done one interview with them though.

What do you guys think of ebert now (not making funny). because Ben Jacobs left Port last year and i hate him now. Since Ebert left you guys and pretty much became a star for us, do you guys still like him or ?

Meh. I don't like or dislike Ebert. Since he left, he hasn't really come to mind, and only has since you brought his name up. It's not a matter of like for me, it's business. Ebert wanted to go because his heart was at Port, as well as not getting midfield opportunities at WC.

"Star" must surely be relative. A star at Port, perhaps. A star among WC's group, who have players ahead of Ebert, no. If he were at WC still, he'd still be in a peripheral role, like being played as a HFF, due to who's keeping him out of the midfield.

Yeah That's fair enough.

Personally I really liked having Ebert in our team. In 2011 he played really well in a number of games for us and even was the difference between winning and losing a couple of them IMO. However, his kicking was always a knock on him and he frequently turned the ball over. It would have been interesting to see him remain with us because I believe he could have been one of our top players if he improved his disposal. I can understand him wanting to move home though and am not surprised he has risen into your leadership group. Hope he does really well for you guys (except for when you play us for premiership points - of course).
