Both teams played better than we did. I wouldn't be worried.

I thought Port were gone there midway through the quarter. Good effort.

The most ridiculously over-umpired game I've ever seen. FFS I hope they put the whistle away a bit more during the real thing.

Agree, players should know better.

I have never understood the whole "let the players play" mentality. If a rule is broken then a free kick should be paid.

Letting players play outside the rules should not be acceptable or applauded.

Having a game that is stopped every 15 seconds by a whistle is unwatchable.

If the players are not smart enough to play to the rules, that is what you get.

If the umpires paid every single free kick in accordance with the letter of the law, there'd be 300 frees a game paid. They have to draw a line somewhere, and in this case (like just about every other NAB cup game) they drew the line way too far one way.

I like the way Jako says a random sentence and then follows up with a question completely unrelated to the first sentence.

There's supposed infringements which actually don't impede the opponent though that umpires who've never played the game call as free kick.

Also there is accidental contact above the shoulders in marking contests and tackles that are just as much the fault of the guy who cops a feather touch to the head and neck region as the "perpetrator".

Umpires should always follow the "less is more" mantra. The Umpires main objective should be to let the game flow first and foremost, and then enforce the rules secondly. Similar to the police force who are to keep the peace firstly and enforce the law secondly.
