Just delighted with that performance.

In light of the injuries to Max and Frase it would have been terrible to walk away with a loss and two serious injuries when the day was so full of promise.

Both teams had a lot of good players out but what impressed me was that the young players made such a big impact on the game. As mentioned Geary was fantastic and Armitage is looking more like a league midfielder every game he plays but I was just as impressed with Robert Eddy. The kid doesn't take a backward step and doesn't mind doing the hard work by diving into packs and keeping the ball locked up. Jason Blake deserves a lot of credit too. He's a much maligned player and again he did a few of his usual turnovers that make you want to pull your hair out but you really can't question his committment. The way he smothers and chases is something that all players should emulate.

Not only will the kids benefit from a game in front of 30,000+ spectators next week but it will also help the clubs bottom line and sell a few more memberships. When you see the kids showing the kind of committment that they showed today and combine it with the returning stars like Riewoldt, Hayes, Ball, Harvey, Maguire, etc things can't be going too badly.
