Currie will definately play on Sunday with Spider out. Who knows, he might even be there in Round 1. Spider is touch and go according to Roos for the season opener.
Pretty sure that Jolly is listed as an 'out' for next weekend too. So let's hope Currie doesn't trip over his toe nails anytime this week. Suspect we might see LRT take a turn in the ruck for part of the game, given that Currie can't be expected to do it all on his own.

I have a feeling that Sunday afternoon could get pretty ugly for our Cygnets.

I'm kinda hoping us and Carlton win. That way the Swans will be playing at the Dome the following week !!! I'll be able to go to that one!!

Bloods1, if we do lose. Will that mean the swans other paraccy matches will be up in Sydeny?? or a bit of everywhere??[/quote]

I really depends on who the AFL fixture us up against. It's anyones guess really. Being in Melbourne though I would love to see us play down here. We rarely see them during the pre season.

The AFL usually brings out a media release as to who the losers from the NAB Cup play the following week. As soon as I find out I'll let u know. ;)

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: Thanks!!

If we could be competitive for the majority of the game, regardless of the margin at the end, then IMO the performance should be looked at positively.

Would be great to see how our kids (cynets) play.

Fingers crossed it will be on FTA in Melbourne, if not then I'll have to sweet talk a one of my brothers or sisters in law into taping it for me

He is in every article that I have read.

Lets hope Currie gets though the week and on the park because I've heard a few good things about him that make be believe that he'll be a handy player once he becomes a regular senior player in future years. So I look forward to Sunday to see how he goes. As for who will be his number two on Sunday, everything points to Jessie White with LRT playing in defence (no doubt he "might" get a run in the ruck at some point, but not for that long and certainly not in the ruck combo that would start the game).

I have a feeling that Sunday afternoon could get pretty ugly for our Cygnets.
Agree. But its a chance for the kids to show what they have got and for the senior players that do play, what they can do in a bigger role on their backs. Malceski, Mattner and Barlow will be interesting to watch as to how they line up and are used thoughout the match. I guess the same goes with Schmidt, Moore, Grundy and Laidlaw.

Its on Fox Sports One so it won't.

Its not on FTA anywhere in Australia because Fox Sports have the exclusive rights to NAB Cup games they show (except the semi final which gets shown on delay). It won't even be shown into Sydney on FTA.

Best to find a pub that is showing the game or find a friend or family member that has Foxtel and get over to their place and watch it.

I don't think it will make for pretty viewing, from a Swans point of view.
any chance to see some of these kids is good, i don't think it could get any more ugly for us that saturday night was for pies fans, and i don't think many of them will be losing too much sleep over the result
the scoreline is totally irrelevant
as will this sunday's
the only way it might be relevant is if sydney happen to win, and i say that simply because hawthorn will field are much more senior team and will be expected to win
if we're anywhere within 50 points i'd consider that a positive result

according to our much-maligned website, currie will not play preseason
can anyone confirm this, or go further than yesterday's website yarn?

I read that also. That's a huge blow considering Spider is touch and go for Round 1. That leaves us one ruckman short. I know Roosy said that he wouldn't play Goosdey in the ruck again, but I think that he should.

The centre circle was introduced to elimainate injuries like the one Goodsey had against West Coast when he strained his medial. Hence, there has been no such injury since it was introduced. It might be our only option becasue we can't rely on Jolly to ruck for an entire game. This talk of LTR going into the ruck is a joke. Jess White is the only other player that has the height to play ruck but I doubt it very much that he's played in that position before.

White has done a fair amount of rucking for the twos in Canberra. But his opponents are very different beasts to those he'd have to face in the big league.

Jolly has rucked pretty much a whole game on his own before, with a little support from LRT and Big Ted.

and apparently hank playfair is listed as indefinite on the injured list, and there's serious question marks about when he'll play footy again, due to hamstring problems

if white rucked in the twos, at least he's had experience, and he HAS reportedly grown a bit since last season

I know Jolly can, but it's not ideal. I wasn't aware that White had rucked in the reserves. We don't get much info down here in Melbourne on the reserves. In saying that, we might be in a bit of trouble if we have to rely on LRT and Richards to pinch hit in the ruck.

LOL. I wonder if that's the shortest team ever to be named at top level Aussie Rules. By my reckoning there's are only 5 players on that list taller than 190cm - and the biggest of them only 196cm.

Given that White is going to have to ruck, I wonder if they'll use Barlow at CHF (with Grundy further back towards the goal square).

And who on earth is going to play on Franklin?!!

Probably LRT I would think. Unless they want to give poor Reg the old run around in defence again or chuck in a youngster like Faulks or Bruce.

Hawthorn have named 3 ruckmen!! Bloody 'ell, we're going to get a big thrashing.

It is one of the most 'shortest' teams list I've seen.

I'm not going to be surprised when we lost against a near-full-strength-Hawthorn side. Best luck too all the young guns... :p

I've never really agreed with Roosy in relation to his treatment of the NAB cup. I would prefer to see all our starting players having as much match practice as possible before round 1. Perhaps if all our starting players had enough match practice under their belts, it would address our sluggish starts to the season.
