FYI mofo's:

Hi guys,

Tomm vdV here from North. Currently compressing the large files that are the quarters. Will be posting them up online all at once, but they are super large files and take time to compress. So right now we are running as fast as we can, at the mercy of the technology we are using. Will be aiming to get the whole game up by tonight, but if we have any issues with the tech and/or internet it may be tomorrow. Up within 24 hours, with the aim being sometime tonight. Apologies for the delay, and appreciate your patience.

If you wish to be one of the first to watch, make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking here http://bitly.com/XUCWxH

Thanks guys.

So good to have some vision.

Sammy Day didn't do as poorly as the stats suggested. Think he competed up forward and led, but kicks to him weren't ideal. Slippery conditions didn't help either. Thought he was also very good in the ruck. A lot of his hitouts went directly to a Suns player on the move, and played well defensively. Split the packs hard to cause spillage, gave others a chance with shepards and such. Of course, a goal would have been nice, but he wasn't far from a couple and he did have an assist. Very much played his role.

Hutchins looked very good. Think I like him down back still, though is certainly comfortable forward.

Harbrow looked fantastic out of congestion. I wasn't sure how he would go in the midfield, but he roved really well. Has such a sharp acceleration to get him clear.

Brennan also looked good up forward. Chased hard and presented well.

Swallow and Bennell... well, we've already raved on him. ;)

Terrible that we cannot see Jack Martin until next year. Looks so promising.

When Hunt misses games, he's going to leave a bigger hole than people think. Such a key part to our inside grunt.

disclaimer: Did not watch the first quarter. :D

Also noticed that we didn't just bomb it long as often as we used to. Quite a lot we would hold it up from 50 or 60 and wait for an option to present itself. Once (that I saw ) we got caught holding the ball doing this, but that's a positive error IMO. Compared to the amount we hit people on the lead. The players have identified that our long bomb to the square isn't work as well as we would like.

Also RE: Martin. Watch 21:46 on Q3. Martin somehow gets the ball from the North player just before he hand-balls, storms off from congestion, and laces it out to Gorringe on the lead at full speed. Amazing.

What have I been trying to tell everyone about Martin:rolleyes:

No.1 draft pick had we not got him.

Isn't a full fwds roll to kick goals.

Unfortunately with our dysfunctional fwd line, it places so much extra pressure on our midfield to kick goals for us to be competitive.

Don't feel so bad about Melvin going down after watching the replay. North got at least 4 - 5 goals from a combination of free kicks and/or 50 metre penalties. The first quarter wasn't as disastrous as I'd imagined as they definitely had a strong breeze. We had plenty of the ball but our finishing was off. Plenty to work on but nothing that can't be fixed.
Azza Hall and Jack Martin look dangerous as our small forwards. Gazza barely got out of a jog. We were trying some weird combos at centre bounces (e.g Gorro, Hutch, Jars and Gaz; and Gorro, Spook, Harbs and Spitta).

Few Observations

David Swallow: Is back to his 2011 form and then some, playing out of his skin and a worthy no.1 pick.
Karmichael Hunt: Is obviously not in our best 22 let alone top 8 midfielders, gave away so many obvious free kicks and seems "slowish". The GCS coaching staff need some backbone on this one. As much as i love Karmicheal i love winning games more and our best 22 should take the field each week. Regardless of pedigree...
Sam Day: Does some really good things and trys hard. If he can just add marking to his game he will be amazing for us! Just needs to take strong marks consistently to be a force.
Jaeger O'meara: Some of the stuff this guy does me wet... like seriously wet. and I'm a guy. when this guy averages 25 disposals a game he is going to be incredible. Just have to be patient.
Brandon Matera: don't worry about the 3 behinds. A couple of the shots were impossible. Don't really think he "sparked" any come back either. It was more Swallow playing extremely well then fish carving them. Just my opinion anyway. He still played well though.

I could go on and on but i won't bore you with walls of text but i could go on and on :p

Not as one sided as the North supports claim; worth a watch.

Props to the NMFC for getting the game up in such good quality, very enjoyable :thumbsu:

i have to disagree with u..
karmichael hunt played a very good game. i didnt see him give away any free kicks, he wore ziebell like a glove he was very very quiet. he is good around the congestion and will continue to improve

jackson allen i thought was the one that gave away heaps of free kicks, he played on black and imo was the reason they got away to an early lead, didnt play in the second half and was the reason we came back into the game when weller came on.

aaron hall player extremely well took the play on and could be the second crumbing forward behind matera that we have needed. i give him and A and is pushing for rnd 1 selection

david swallow killed it. agree with you there, look out for a great season from him

steven may was probably the one that impressed me the most. if we dont play him in the forward line over day i will be shocked. he throws him sself at every contest and will play most games i feel.

Hunt gave away a few frees, especially in the first half. Lots of in the back tackles where he just rode players into the ground trying to tackle them. That sort of stuff is easily fixed though. The positives he did outweighed the negatives.

Allen played nearly the whole game from what I saw. I didn't mind his game, but his first half was very average. Shirked the contest and lacked defensively. He must have been given a bake at half time, because he slowly became the player we're looking for in him. The fourth quarter in particular he attacked the ball hard, and hit more of his targets with his kick-ins.

Fitness wise the whole team looks really solid. Russell was dancing around on his feet late in the fourth even. Not many players were flat footed, which is a good sign.

Erm Weller and Allen played the whole game. Not sure why we didn't use more subs to be honest, fresh legs on a hot day work wonders. Agree with Aaron hall though, could be a really good player if he can keep his nab cup consistency into the AFL season. Recon we might have a gem there. If we can actually field our best 22 i think we can match it with most teams.

standouts for me were martin, swallow, bennell, harbrow.

Harbrow is our most underrated player
When people talk about our out of contract pick-ups they conveniently forget how freakin good this bloke has been for us and love to talk about how bad Brown and Fraser have been.
Gets much love in our household does JH
Ablett Harbrow Rischitelli Stanley and in his own way Brown have been on the money

Spot on, SandyToes.

It was interesting to hear Dunstall in the commentary of our NAB round 1 game say that Harbrow had been disappointing last year. I'd wager than he never watched any of our games in 2012, since when he actually played, Harbrow was always one of our best in 2012.

2011 was a bit of a down year, but his 2012 was sublime. With him playing further up the ground he'll really start to be a weapon for us.

Ever since I saw Aaron Hall play against GWS, I knew that if he could maintain that sort of rage and form, he'd be in our 22 no question. He was an absolute animal that day.
