This is Australia. A murder conviction is punishable by a maximum penalty of standing in a confined circle for 10 minutes without having any contact with anyone outside the circle. After ten minutes of reflection time, that person is considered to be rehabilitated and is released on parole.
even the tittle of this thread annoys me" Melbourne crime figure" in other words a criminal, someone who is involved in crime, he isn't an ex-crim he is someone actively involved in crime and they belong in jail or where ever he is now.

I don't know what his entire criminal history is or how journalists determine what a crime figure is, I just took the headline for the thread title.

Fixed! You can be not so annoyed now.

what annoys me is this 'crime figure' had nearly 200 convictions apparently-what have you got to do to get sent to jail?

if the cops know they haven't got a job yet are rolling in money surely the tax department can nail them to the wall or the cops should be on them like a ton of bricks every move they make

I can't get into this but the gist of it I think might be, there could have been a lot of people who wanted Nabil gone. Herald Sun four days ago.

i think I read somewhere that this grub had been charge over 200 times for different offences, Melbourne seems to have more than its fair share of middle eastern/Lebanese families/gangs that are completely out of control selling huge amounts of drugs and being very violent, when a crowd turned up at the death scene to 'look stunned' and 'cant imagine why this loving father' was shot you couldn't imagine a more dodgey bunch
[/QU
Choose your words wisely your comments iare nothing but disrespectful to speak of a man who you know nothing of or should you speak about his a great man and loving father . Why don't you come down to northern suburbs and share your words see how many people to talk too , I tell you his a man of integrity .

Are you seriously trying to tell me all the reports and police attention on Maghnie is wrong and he was just a guy in the wrong place at the wrong time?

He had been charged over 200 times with various crimes, some of them serious, this is a fact.
Also he wasn’t there for some tea and biscuits.. he was there to extort money and must have picked the wrong person and paid the ultimate price.

How is his son now? Can he speak to the police and tell them what happened before the shooting and who it was? And why? He is both victim and witness.

Or is he not talking to the police?

He was facing criminal driving charges, 209kmph and a crash apparently but they've been struck out now. Still not sure what his prior convictions are for though.

Maghnie was suspected of involvement in a string of unsolved shootings and no less than four murders, including the drive-by shooting at the Love Machine nightclub in April 2019 that killed two people.

Maghnie’s recorded criminal history, which dates back to 1993, pales in comparison with what police have suspected: drug trafficking, weapons offences and the attempted murder of bikie Toby Mitchell in 2011.

somebody gets shot dead in late evening and was still light outside and not a single charge or word of anybody being charged, yes i think it surprising.

Lack of cooperation with the police maybe. There must be houses and shops with a heap of CCTV around there they should be able to do some tracking.

Some of his history's in here, it's quite extensive.

Just after 1am on a Thursday morning in 2016, somebody shot Nabil Maghnie.
Maghnie was sitting in his Holden Commodore when bullets went through his windscreen, striking him in the head and body.
He fired back eight times, police said.

In 2011 he was shot in Broadmeadows, but survived.
He was last in the news in November, when he was grilled by detectives over the death of fellow gangland figure Mitat Rasimi.
He was under investigation over a double fatal shooting at the Love Machine nightclub last year

Nabil Maghnie was on $400,000 bail awaiting trial for dangerous driving charges.
He had cocaine in his system when he was found inside a Range Rover, which crashed into two other cars at more than 200km/h in Woodstock before ending up into a paddock last May.
Despite being the only person in the car, Maghnie told police he was not behind the wheel. Another man claimed to be the driver, but phone analysis put him three hours away at the time.

In the months before he was shot in 2016, he had been charged with affray twice over brawls; one at Crown Casino, the other at a brothel.
In 2017 police raided his home, seizing a 2010 Lamborghini, as well as methamphetamine and cannabis.
In January 2018 he was arrested after his DNA was found on two guns. Two months later, he was arrested for ramming another car while speeding.

Yeah but apart from all that he's a man of integrity and a great father... Besides, if it was in the paper it can't be true.

I would be more surprised if it was discovered that the police were not behind it.
