to be honest though i can't believe at any point people couldn't see that eventually Nadal was going to do some great things on non clay surfaces.

I love watching Fed and Nadal play. the two are absolute freaks and i have no favourite player out of the two. I would love to see Fed win the French and i've loved seeing Nadal win at Wimbledon and Oz Open.

The thing that bugged me though was people bagging out Nadal not being able to win on other surfaces

Lets ignore the French Open completely and compare their performances at the Oz Open, US Open and Wimbledon. Federer is not all that in front of Nadal at any stage when comparing by age.

Fed's first win at Wimbledon was just before he turned 22, while Rafa's first win at Wimbledon was just after he turned 22... so they were basically the same age.

But prior to those wins, Fed had only 1 QF Grand Slam apperances (as well as 1 at the French Open, but i'm ignoring the French) and a series of 4th round apperances whilst Nadal had made 2 QF's, 1 SF's and been a twice finalist in grand slams....

i love watching these two guys go at it because they have such contrasting styles. I love watching Fed being able to land the ball on dime in the corner of the court only for Nadal to chase it down at keep the rally going.

You would be a brave man to bet that Federer won't break the all time grand slam record. And one would have to think the only thing stopping Nadal from going past him is injury....

Just a fantastic rivalry between two guys who IMO seem like top blokes as well.

EDIT: i'm also aware that one needs to take into account the early physical maturity of NAdal really helping him to develop so quickly.

You can't say Rafa isn't supremely talented. Roger is much silkier but some of Rafa's passes are among the best ever.

This comment is spot on. I'm very astute. :p

Say what you want about what Nadal has or lacks, but as well the above comment he hits angles that 99.6% of players could only dream of hitting.

Nadal up a set and 4-0. Bet you feel like a bit of a fool now, huh?
nadal up about 6 grand slams and a few millions bucks now.... dont u feel like more of a fool:cool:

How is this pretender #2 in the world?

Been watching him this week and it seems the only way he gets his points is due to unforced errors of his opponents.

He's down 5-2 at the moment against Simon and has not hit one winner .. if it wasn't for Simon hitting it out / into the net, Nadal would be a goner.

Overrated, not to mention arrogant and takes way too long to serve the ****ing ball! He bounces it about 45 times.

Only gained his #2 status due to his clay court domination obviously.

Wont be there for long, I'm predicting he'll slip out of the top 5 very soon and will be out of the top 10 in 2 years time.

shall i say ...uber pwnage? :D
