his decision-making is very poor and he should go but knowing our luck we'd trade him to Port and he'd turn the corner and become another Rodan.

With Hicks and Tambo, plus King, no need for Nahas

King? You're kidding aren't you? His last 6 or so weeks have been excellent. He's a competitor, doesn't get pushed around, and busts his ar$e every week.

Nahas is rubbish. Cringeworthy today. In fact i'd say he and graham cost us the game.

Quite possibly.
His decision making and awareness is shocking.

Wouldn't think he would be worth much on the trade table and you think it will be a borderline decision to kep him. I prefer Nahas than Hislop, don't think we can keep both.

Tuck was another today that did all the dud things he use to do before being dropped. During the game I was shaking my head thinking, bloody Craig Cameron - another dud decision in re-signing him.

I think you mis-interpreted Magic's post there cotch.

tambling will play hb or fail next yr. there is no other spot for him.

king while even i have to agree hes been decent in the back half of the yr and has probably saved his spot on the list, i would like to see him at least put a full yr together at current level before i would call him safe. even then i would only give him 1 yr contracts.

hicks im not sure about and really dont like to be negative at this stage of his career. his size has to be a concern and im not sure if he has the polish to play at this level. at least with him he has time on his side.

small forward position remains a problem but personally i would rather we keep turning them over until we find a well rounded one of quality.
limited footballers do exactly that limit you as a team.

Agree with all that santa.

King safe until someone better comes along, I'm guessing another two years might see him through. Making a good fist of his current role in the mean time.

Regarding small forward, yep... guys like Nahas, Hicks, Relton Roberts can be tried and moved on til we find someone who makes the position their own. Would think Hicks will get another season or two to show something.

I've been saying for 12 months that Tambling should be our small forward option. Has good goal sense, and is a reasonable mark when required. He won't make it as a mid and he won't get a game as a rebounding defender as we have others who are better equipped to perform that role.

lets not go essendon board on the guy yet, sure he had a shocking game/season but lets see how we go with him in 2011, its up to him to get himself back in form. if he doesn't improve we can go terry wallace era on him mid year.

Also, one the subject of Graham. He has some strong points about him but **** me he is as slow as a dinosaur. But they time his brain can get him to handball he has already been tackled. :o

Nahas was very average today.

You could see the effort, the speed was impressive.

He went to ground way too much, his decision making was the worst of them all.

But there was one play that got me thinking.

He ran around, handballed to a guy under pressure and starting running towards the 50 (hoping to get another possession) he did not sheppard.

This shows me he is a man putting himself under pressure, maybe thinking it is his last chance to show something. I reckon he could be better if he played without that stress on his back.

I'm 50/50 on him, Hardwick can make the hard call.

On one thread we are saying how wrong we were about Kingy.... and now we are basically writing off Nahas the same way we did him...

Ok I have never been a big Nahas fan.... but ffs...

What I do like about nahas is his confidence and his endeavour and the way he keeps going with out dropping his head.
Keeps trying all day. has smarts about him.... knows what he needs to do but lacks the polish to pull it off... that I think will come.

DH sees something in his game. The move up the ground was an education... unless we can trade him I think we will see him again next year.... I'm rarely wrong.:thumbsu:

The diff between Nahas and King is King has the body and determination.

Someone said king is the AFL's pushup king.

Nahas is too light, he plays a Eddie betts role without the goal sense( what the????)

King's issues were too raw and kicking, and NFI how to outsmart a forward to win the contest. He has improved his kicking and in front of goals strategy is less critical as it comes down to kick the goal or find the open option. King is tougher and a better tackler. King has shown to be capable of being coached into a better player and he aplies himself!!

So you are saying Nahas cant improve? just like everyone else said King cant

Well i was delisting king before round 1 this year i would have happily had one less player on the list for the year because i despised him so much. Nahas on the other hand i thought was a decent goal sneak.

....After this season i think nahas is just to small and is a liability when he takes to the field. On the other hand jake king has got so good that i was trying to buy his badge at the game today BUT it was sold out!

Oh and also if king can continue to play the way he is atm there wouldn't be an upgrade he would be one of the best at his position in the comp....He's ****ing awesome.

Graham was towelled up by Brogan today. Gus was ordinary and Brogan was one of the best players on the ground.
Has a lot of work to do.

That's true, but he has come a lot further than most thought he would, if he sticks at it he could be a very handy player, he did have to do it alone today as well.

Might be hard to get him out of Mcdonalds, but nahas and hicks are not our answer there, Hicks is quick no doubt but his size will limit him unless he gets some king in him.

Nahas was no Robinson Curosoe today. Threads like this shit me. There is no thought process behind it. Nahas will be on our list full stop. It's his second season on the list after being upgraded from a rookie. We have persisted with spuds like Hislop and Thompson, they will go before Nahas. Our depth right now reflects a bottom 4 team. Even if Hicks, Webberly etc start getting selected before him, he will be retained for depth. He is not a midfielder. He is a forward pocket. Nahas wasn't the reason we went 50 points down. We played like shit in the second quarter where we went handball crazy (ala the good old days of when i would watch the Tigers handball around and refuse to kick it long). To blame or single out one player is a fool hardy exercise.

All we have after Riewoldt is small forwards - out goalkicking ladder after Riewoldt went Collins 15, Nason 14, Nahas 13, King 12, Morton 12 , White 11. Hicks kicked 1 goal from 3 games. Nahas is no worse or better than any of them.

So this tells me 2 things - our other key forwards are still rubbish - Post, griffiths, Astbury (when he was there) - basically didn't kick a goal. Total 11 between them - I know they're young, but that's not great. Neither did our ruckmen - Graham, Simmons, Vickery and Browne kicked 11 between them.

More importantly, our midfield doesn't kick goals - Martin kicked 11 which is OK-ish, but Tuck, Cotchin, Jackson, Edwards, Cousins and Cousins plus Martin totalled 37 (from 111 games - 1 every 3 games for our 'central mids'. Our 'Running HBF's' - Deledio, Newman, Connors, Farmer, Tambling, Webberley - kicked 17 goals from 97 games - 1 every 6 games.

Maybe you shuffle the groups around a bit - but the basic problem is we have one avenue to goal only, and it's not fair to lump all the blame onto whichever 'small forward' is currently not kicking the goals. Essendon kicked more goals than us - their top goal-kicker kicked 24 .

Yep. GTFO.

Makes the simple look impossible.

He has been overtaken and I'll take a fresh kid ahead of him that can do the effective disposals instead the the low percentage and doesn't go to ground which is and always will be one of the worst things for a player to do.

Has a lot of work to do.

Agree did anyone notcie when our run was coming in the last quarter Posty was in the ruck and winning majority of taps. Gus went in and we lost the centre clearances again.

Been a long year for Graham and still isn't quite ready for full year of #1 Ruckman duties. He will continue to work on his tank over pre-season and hopefully can last the full season in 2011. Needs Vickery to come on and ease the workload..
Gus has had a good year!
