Injury Naitanui's knee

Physically and from knee stability point of view 7 months everything is ok to go. Mentally and learning to trust the knee, well that's a whole different issue any why certain players come back faster/slower than others. A very individual thing.

So theoretically he could be back round 1 next year and everyone saying he is gone for season 2017 could be wrong.

This all but confirms that Nic is the most loved player in Eagles history, i remember feeling devastated when my favourite footballer in Cuz did his hammy against port in 07 and felt shit when Judd annoumced he was leaving, but this has really got to me and made me sad more than both Judd and Cuz combined.

Get well soon Naita, you are a ripper bloke that doesnt deserve the bad things :(

When Cuz lost the captaincy followed by the truth coming out re his drug taking and was sacked from the Club I was pretty devastated at the time as he had been my favourite player and found it difficult to accept the truth.

However like so many of us really devastated about Nic's ACL as really feel for him as from what I've heard it was really important for him to help the team win a premiership, particularly after losing his Mum. Think that's why he opted to get his Achilles done mid season so he could give of his best, and now this happens.

Must be something about the Number 9 Guernsey, although Peter Wilson went okay back during the successful 90's era.

Do hope all goes well Nic and stay strong and hope all goes well.

Remember this

There always someone doing it tougher

There someone right now dealing with a car accident or a young suicide or so one dying from cancer

Nic Nat wouldn't want us mopping .....the club won't mope

We will be ok...Lycett can improve ...we draft another ruck in the ore season draft .....rookie

Nic Nat is placed on the long term injury list and away we go

I'm still glad we won the game ....yup it stings but it's not death
Obviously there are worse things that can happen in life - it's just that we are all either still in denial or in shock and finding it difficult to accept reality. It will take a few days and we'll be right behind the boys, win or lose, when we play the Crows. Just hope this doesnt make them flat and play accordingly. Would like to see them play with the fire in the belly!!

Gentlemen this may be a spanner in the works but alas with Nics final push at the ball for a while he helped us stop the formidable juggernaught of Hawthorn potentially finishing top 2 again. Alas he is the man who dove on the grenade.

Hawks= grenade
Nics knee= dude
Lycett/simmo= Bloody face dude

As horrible as all this is for the club and most importantly the one who is affected the most, NicNat... It's not the end of the world. It's round 22, we've still got to play finals.

Who knows how far we can push? I bet hardly any/non of you here even thought we'd finish 2nd nor play in the grand final. Especially after having our best player do an ACL during the preseason.

Who knows what can happen? I'm not saying we will win the flag, but you never know. It is possible. Could be a blessing in disguise - might mean we won't rely on a single player or other players might step up.

I can understand how gutted everyone is, I am too. But let's all wish Nic the best and bring on Adelaide next week.

Do it for Nic, lads.

Sure, one way to look at it is to say its luck or that life is cruel but really if you had to put money before the game on which player would be most likely to go down it would be Nic. He's struggled with injury, played with soreness and battled with the minutes they've wanted to put into him his whole career.
They played him with achilles issues until he broke down and needed surgery. Then they rushed him back and pushed his body to the limit on his return. Is that a guarantee he does an ACL no but it certainly was playing with fire. He never was and will never be an athlete who can ruck a whole game and they know this and have always known it and they push him to braking point every season.
Then they go out and trade away Sinclair who could of been used to great affect this season in a management plan for Nics body. I don't blame a non existent god I blame an idiotic club who's failed to protect one of their greatest assets. I don't even want to think about how bad this could be for the rest of his a career if its an ACL but whatever happens I will always hold the club responsible because they are, you make your own luck and they pushed theirs to the limits and its a ******* outrage.
God that is some BS if I've ever read it! According to you no one should ever play a game for the Eagles again! As some one that's done an ACL, it had nothing to do with anything else!! What I just read has nothing to do with an acl and everyone is dumber for reading that crap

Theoretically yes, most probably not but around mid April may next year I would have thought they would be seeing how he goes. A good example is actually eMac, structurally he has been fine for a long time but obviously mentally he isn't quite there yet. When I started playing again after my acl, it felt fragile even though I knew logically it was fine. Tough feeling to articulate let along comprehend in an afl setting.

Such horrible news for Nick. At least now our midfielders will realise it's going to be a long time before Nick is back, so they need to make it work with Lycett.

The club shouldn't just be looking locally, nic is so valuable they should really be looking worldwide if need be to find the best surgeon and rehabilitation team.

Gutted :(

Well Perth must be backwards if we require neurosurgeons to do ACL surgery

Perhaps that's why Freo players fly over east.
Hehe. Tongue in cheek mate, taking the piss out of a post ^^^ and some from yesterday that suggested Perth don't have quality Ortho surgeons.

My bad, I didn't emoji it. [emoji21]

Silver lining could be that a better draft pick next year can complement the team in 2018 when the majority are still around from this years squad.

According to Champion Data, they slumped from first to last in the AFL in hit-outs to advantage differential (+7.9 to -7.7). They dropped from first to 17th in hit-out differential (+23.2 to -17.8). They dropped from fifth to 18th in clearance differential (+1.9 to -6.2), second to 17th (+3.0 to -2.8) in centre bounce clearance differential and slumped from sixth to 15th in contested possession differential (+3.3 to -10.2).

In Friday's 25-point win over the Hawks the Eagles were +45 in contested possession, +12 in clearances and +9 in centre bounce clearances.

Naitanui also kicked the match-winner from a forward 50 stoppage with seconds remaining against Greater Western Sydney in round 21.

The Eagles also dropped from third in the AFL for time in forward half (+7:08 minutes) in the first 12 rounds to 13th (-4:29) during Naitanui's six-week absence.

Sorry I know it only makes the pain worse.

To be fair we played Mitch Brown in the ruck for some of those games. Guy has zero experience as a ruckman. Lycett will have a monster pre-season knowing history is his to make
