Ben Long - I love that crazy mofo.

The obvious choices are Bolton or DRioli, either of which would improve us considerably atm.

But the reality was that we were not going to be premiership contenders in the next 5 years, which is about the extent of their respective careers from here, so the draft picks gained in their trades was more astute.

Actually can't think of a single player we've let go that we've missed in the last 5 years.

Serong's probably the best of the bunch but he's not exactly a star, just a handy roleplayer. Hopefully he has a good career.

I miss CJ's exciting runs and enthusiasm but not really missing his turnovers.

Tarryn Thomas if you ignore how much of a complete bonehead he is

Technically let Gunston go!

I think we’re good, thanks

Stengle has kicked 160 goals, been an AA, won a flag & kicked 4 in it. He was 2021 for Adelaide so falls into the 5 years. Allowing Rankine & Rachele even more midfield freedom, with a star small forward (far better than Pedlar who does 6 boneheaded kicks a game trying to do miracle things).

Adelaide - Tyson Stengle, delisted 2021

Essendon - Pat Voss, delisted 2023

Some other left field ones:
Melbourne - ANB would be very handy in this born again Melbourne side

Tigers would be way more competitive if they had a fit Soldo playing a VFL career backing up Nankervis. Chasing the number 1 spot at Port ended up hurting Port, Richmond & Soldo himself in different ways.

Brisbane don’t want for anything major but Ah Chee was (is) still a fantastic forward flanker.

5 years. Plus not much good to us now, is it?

Brodie Mihocek & Nathan Murphy

Pretty clear in hindsight that Gunston was not really trying that hard when he played for Brisbane. He just didn't care.

His old man had just passed so maybe he wasn't mentally all there. Plus his back was still an issue.

Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, Luke Jackson, Alex Neal-Bullen, Toby Bedford and Brodie Grundy.

ANB was handy in the pre-born again Melbourne side - he was dearly beloved and needed at the club but wanted to go back to SA for family reasons and left on very amicable terms with well wishes. But the Dees knew exactly what they were losing

Not in the last 5 years but in hindsight, the Toby Nankervis trade really hurt us after 2016.

The Swans brains trust believed that Sam Naismith had the brighter future, but he barely ever played a game with multiple ACL injuries. Kurt Tippett struggled to get back on the park and didn't play again after 2017.

That left us with former West Coast journeyman Callum Sinclair as our number one (and only) ruck option for the next 4 years until we recruited Tom Hickey in 2021.

Meanwhile, Nankervis went on to form a key part of the Richmond dynasty over 2017-2020.

Also, we should have selected him in 2016 grand final. Certainly could've used his physicality that day.

In the last 5 years, actually no one. I reckon we could find room for Brad Hill but he’s been gone a decade.

Sam Collins and Sam Switkowski were both under our noses at Box Hill and are now very handy players, but were never on the list.
Jai serong maybe.
