Names On Players Jerseys

Yeah look I proudly wear my guernsey with number 25 and 'schoenmakers' above it, but as for players wearing it, no thanks. How about we stop messing around with the finer details of the game.

Says the dude with "Krisholia 14" in his avatar :p

Touche` lol

But then, I'll freely admit it is a slightly narcissistic thing :D

Having said that, I figure i'll always support the Hammers, whereas any player name I might get on there is just as likely to be running around for another club within a year or two.

Like all the Pistons jerseys I own. I haven't worn my Grant Hill one in years

Opposition supporters who dont know our players, dont buy our jumpers.

We follow our team, not an individual player.

I also like the tradition with numbers but maybe a name wouldnt impact on this.

I am not sure that a jumper with a name on it would dramtically increase sales. Soccer guernsey's are sold worldwide and it is a different market.

More important for Hawthorn than having player names on each guernsey, is getting back your old school guernsey without the white box with black number inside. That looks horrid.

I'm against having names. It's not a tradition AFL guernsey with it. It's also pointless to have since they would be barely visible at the game.

Even today they kept getting Skipper and Renouf mixed up, even after close camera action replays. Murphy was called Stratton. The same crap was happening in the St Kilda-Richmond match.

I was actually wondering that today. When I'm in the car listening to the radio, I assume they don't get any wrong and how naive I must be for believing this is the case.

Anyway my OP was about marketing and finances. How much do you think a Franklin or Rioli jumper would go for? Almost double I'd say.

How many people buy the jumper at double the price?

how can someone get twister and skipper mixed up ??
different hair big ears on skip i think the strats and murphy one maybe the number have heard the odd one call out one name and realise it was the other cause of the 9 at the end of their number [29 /39] just catch a glimpse on the 9 and get mixed up

Perhaps these 'experts' could justify their extremely well endowed salaries by raising their professionalism to the point where everything does not need to be spelt out before them.

**** me, when I used to occasionally listen to the slightly mentally deranged Rex Hunt I spent most of my time wondering just who the hell he was describing in between swooning at the moon like a dog - you've bugger all to worry about and no argument if that is your reasoning and bugbear.

Yeah noticed that. They kept giving Skip praise for his ruck work and it would be suzie and vice versa!

More importantly, names on the back would have helped with that Fremantle team of unknowns today. That was a disgrace playing their 2nds!

I just got one wrong today and some St Kilda supporters did too on the AFL board, as we could not work out which St Kilda player Goddard had taken the mark on. If the name was there would of saved a lot of hassle.

Plenty.

Not only that, but the number or jumpers sold would increase as well.

Absolute horseshit.

1. Show us evidence.

2. Would these jerseys at 'double' the price outsell the ones that can't be given away when said player leaves for another club?

Likelyhood is that it would have had the other players name on it too, therefore increasing confusion rather than lessening it.

Why don't you just stop talking a lot of shit and admit that you want player names on jerseys because you think it would be 'cool'?

Let's be clear what we are talking about here. Hawks Nest are selling the 2010 sleveless onfield guernsey for $149.95. The replica sells for $109.95. You can buy the numbers for $10.

Your suggesting that that guernsey with the name and number already fixed can be sold for $300 as the onfield version and $220 for the replica. And you'll increase sale volumes.

I just cannot see how you have added sufficient value to justify the price increase.
