Forecast doesn't look good for tomorrow either.
Yeah, if anything the Monday forecast was always worse then the Sunday one.

Might not race till Tuesday.

Another delay.
Race now starting 10am AEST.....

Gonna be a loooooooong night in Daytona methinks....green track , the pack , the lights....deary me :eek::eek:

Carn Marcos

Poor Danica got taken out in the Nationwide race by Cole Whitt.......her teammate :o

Is your thinking on his potential nickname like mine?

Race delayed to 7:02 at Daytona, which is about 11:02 AM in the Daylight Savings states.

Massive crash after one lap.

Johnson and Kurt Busch out of the race.

Danica spins and glides between two wrecked cars in the infield, no idea how she escaped that.

This could go for a while, last man/women standing wins.

After that crash early on, it's actually been pretty smooth sailing as far as the race goes (see what happens in the last 50 laps though). Marcos has been running amon the leaders all race although he just got stuck on the outside to slip to around the 10th at the halfway mark. Long away to go.

Wow at that Montoya vs the Jet Truck crash.

Has anyone ever seen something that crazy in a motor race?

For those that haven't seen it, the race was under caution, Montoya was gunning it down the back straight to catch the field up, when something broke and he spun up the track in turn 3 and into the back of the Jet Truck dryer, and a massive fireball was the result.

Montoya's car was wrecked, but he walked away, but the truck continued to burn for 10 minutes or so.

Here's the video;

Don't know if they'll restart this with 40 to go or not.

Yeah, bizarre incident. They are making progress in the clean up but have to check the barrier hasn't been weakened by fire and repair grooves in the track after dragging that truck and trailer down the track. They use some plastic body filler stuff to repair potholes, but if it is track width groove, that is something else again.

Blaney will be praying for the red flag to stand.

That JPM crash was both bizarre and scary.JPM didn't do anything wrong.

Kenseth finally won [race finished at 1am /5pm AEST] with Dale Jr 2nd and Biffle 3rd.Ambrose did well to finish 13th.He was 25th and a lap down with 10 to go.He ran top 10 for the opening 100 laps.

Errrr yellow means " CAUTION " so what does ****nuckle do ????:rolleyes:
" My trans and diff are playing up...i know , I'LL JUST PLANT THE FOOT !!!!! "

As for Marcos - MASSIVE get-out-of-jail from 28th to 13th......gutting because of how strong his 1st 100 laps were.
Don't reckon he can count on much support from his teammate this year either.....peanut

The race - They've gone too far the other way in regards to the 2 car breakaway.....**** 100+ laps of nose-to-tail shit.

Loved this...

How on earth did Marcos gets 13th there? Impressive final couple of laps there, car is quick, that's for sure. Even though it was a good effort to get 13th pretty gutting considering how good he ran for most of the race, gets caught up on the outside, suddnely fall to 20th and then gets very unlucky with a collision, pretty frustating...

Still not 100% sure I like all the rule changes. As someone earlier said 100+ laps of nose to tail with little movement. Only movement was backwards if you pulled out and tried to pass. It does look spectacular but if someone touches its all over for at least 5 - 10 cars as they have no where to go.
Marcos was caught up in something that he couldnt avoid and to finish 13th was more than a great effort with the troubles that he had.
I am sure he would have taken 13th at the start and said thank you, lets go to Phoenix.
Have never seen anything like the JPM incident, I don't think he did anything wrong, they all go quick to catch the field under yellow and it was a case of wrong place at wrong time. (Bit like every crash in NASCAR).
Brilliant start to another big season ahead. Bring on the next one.

There are 44 drivers chasing 43 spots this week at Phoenix. With the 32 team seemingly using the 6 team's owner points one of the following are going to miss out:

7: R.Gordon
23: Riggs
26: Wise (R)
30: Stremme
36: Blaney
37: Hill (R)
49: Yeley
87: Nemechek
98: McDowell

Concerning the rookies, Josh Wise has run in the OFH's car when she's been in the IndyCar instead of the Nationwide Car last year, Timmy Hill was the Nationwide ROTY last year and finished 7th in that series last weekend.

Chad Knaus fined and banned by NASCAR for six meetings with Jimmie Johnson fined 25 points and Jeff Gordon 25 owner points for rule breaches relating to car set-up. That means Johnson is on -23 championship points heading into race two.

Hendrick Motorsports have said they will appeal.
