From http://www.nascar.com/news/120404/michigan-resurfacing-speeds-up-track/index.html

Thanks to a resurfacing at Michigan International Speedway, Sprint Cup cars were hitting around 215 mph on Tuesday and Wednesday during a Goodyear tire test on the new asphalt.

Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch and Juan Montoya took part in the test on the resurfaced 2-mile oval, and reached a fairly simple consensus the track is much faster than it was before the resurfacing project, which began in this past August and was completed in November.

Unfortunately Marcos was classified 20th.
Another very disappointing result from a very good weekend.
Hasn't moved up at all in the standings but dropping 12 or 13 points in 2 laps has cost him about 4 or 5 places, pretty tight in the bunch.
Luck has to turn around soon.

It seems as though he's not happy with the crew chief for not telling him to save fuel.

Well I don't blame him Jub.
He has enough to worry about without having to ASK if he needs to save fuel. Pretty sure the guy on the box gets paid to worry about adjustments and the external and the driver is paid to drive the thing as hard as he can.
Looking at the standings, if he had of finished 8th instead of 20th (which is worth 12 points) he would be 5 places higher.
Must be very very frustrating for the whole team but Marcos hasn't been at fault for any of the things that have happened this year (blown engine, prangs and running out of fuel).
Just need a little bit of luck but has to do it sooner rather than later or the season will be gone again.

I just can't stand Michael Waltrip.

Anyway back to racing Ambrose placed in 16th place and is 21st in the standings

Been surprised at how well Truex Jr has done so far this season. Sitting second in the standings at the moment.

I watched a replayed of the the race Ambrose passed heaps of cars in the last 20 or so laps.

They had another driver on standby if Ambrose was not up to racing.

So who threw the bottle out that caused the late caution ?

Charlie Sheen :D

But that was stupid that person should never be aloud to go to a motor race again.

Same thing happen to Robert Johnson in 1963 which ended his race according to my old man.

Almost positive it was one of the drivers.
Races that I have been too have heaps of security in front of the seats and they dont let the crowd get close to the fence at all.
Season is fast slipping away and looks like it will be another one of what ifs? for Marcos.
I know he had a crook back on the weekend but he was never really in the hunt and this is one of the short tracks that he has had success at in the past.
MUST start having some top 5 finishes and hopefully a couple of wins (on an oval would be great).
I know it is the toughest form of motorsport and there is a lot of teams very close together and you only need to be off by 1% and you are left behind but the whole team needs to lift.
Bring on Talla and maybe a couple of cautions:thumbsu:

Fan or Driver they should not have done it simple as that.

If it was a driver they should get a penalty of some sort.

Virginia stock car driver Eric McClure was being treated at a hospital in Birmingham Saturday evening after being involved in a brutal crash during the final laps of the Aaron’s 312 Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

McClure lost control of his car in a pack of traffic in turn three and sailed almost head-on into the SAFER barrier on the inside of the track. His car bounced back onto the track surface but was not hit by another car.

Several other cars were involved in the wreck, but no other drivers were injured.

NASCAR reported after the accident that McClure was talking to rescue workers as they removed him from his battered car, a process that took several minutes because workers cut away the roof of the car for easier access.

The race was redflagged after the accident.

After the crash, McClure was taken immediately to the track’s helipad and was transported by helicopter to UAB Medical Center in nearby Birmingham. Family members reported afterwards that McClure was alert and talking, but would be held overnight for observation. No specifics of any injuries were disclosed.

McClure, 33, is from Chilhowie, VA. His family operated the Morgan-McClure Motorsports team for many years in the Sprint Cup Series. He now drives for TriStar Motorsports.

Just a race of what ifs for Ambrose. Qualified well, went up and down in the shuffle, mostly because nobody will work with him, but spent a fair bit of time in the top 3 before pitting too early and getting sent to the back. Did remarkably well to avoid the incidents, a couple by millimetres. My IQ recording cut out with 4 laps remaining so I am not sure how he went from 7th to 12th in the end.

Nobody would work with him.McMurray who lined up on the re-start behind him either ignored him or got a crap re-start.In the end Ambrose dropped behind McMurray and tried pushing him but it was too late and he ended up 14th.
He races so well in these resrictor plate races yet it seem nobody wants to work with him, unless it's his teammate. He couldn't get to Almirola, who was on the bottom lane,on the final re-start.

Not a fan of the Busch whackers but they did have the 2 best paint schemes today

It was Kurt's girlfriend who came up with the Talladega Nights paint job for the #51.Apparently it took her more than 2 months to get the okay. She had to get permission from everyone involved in the movie - the movie studio,Will Ferrells production company, the owner of the cougar, the photographer of the cougar, the sponsors on the movie car.

I'm ****ing LIVID with the treatment he copped today.
The Tony Stewart one about 20 laps in was the worst.

Shit race too btw........( thinks back to the 1st 'Dega race in 2010 and weeps )
