The Nashville Kangaroos, who are loosely affiliated with North Melbourne, are looking for Australian football players and a coach for the 2018 season and beyond. The team can sponsor visas for players and/or a coach through its non-profit club status in the United States. The Kangaroos play games from April-October, with the season culminating in the national championships. Practices are twice per week.

There is no pay for either player or coach positions, but assistance with accommodations is provided. If you’ve played the sport since you were a little kid, you’d probably be one of the better players in the league. Most Americans do not pick up the sport until they are adults. We need some experienced Aussies to take us to the next level both in games and in practices.

Come fit right in to our social club as well. We already have several Australians on the team and a strong off-the-field bond together.

So, want to live in the United States and play or coach footy? Want to help our team win a National Championship?

I once finished 1327th in Supercoach.

Am I overqualified?

I coached the London Hawks ressie's many years ago as a fill in. half time it was about 20.10 V 0.0.

Got a ball out at half time and had the guys pass it around, you know, get a feel for it.
Reminds me of the Micky Nolan story. At training Barassi was giving one of his great speeches. he held a Sherrin aloft and shouted at the team - "this is a football'. Nolan chimed in - "hang on a sec coach, you're going too fast".

Define "loosely affiliated"

NM sends us gear every year and the AFL supports our league with financial contributions. Many of the AFL teams partner with a US team and we're the only Kangaroos in the country. When any of our players ever visit Australia, we're usually welcome to come by the North Melbourne training grounds for a tour.

Any chance of doing some college classes?
Absolutely! We have six colleges/universities in the Nashville area. We have a few college students on the team every year. Our best player last year was a college student from Australia.

That sounds like a great opportunity, I went to Nashville last year and it was awesome fun.
Aussies seem to really love our city. Perhaps its the country music. But yes, there's footy too. Stop by a training next time you're in town!

Very interested.

Played 2016 and some of '17 for the Halifax Dockers.
Back in Aus now and would love a reason to live elsewhere again.

A great mate of mine, Grant White was the coach there for a few years, then spent quite a few years on the board, from all accounts they play hard on and off the ground, not unlike our team of the 90s it would seem
