You forgot the best bit, slamming Horne Francis into the grass. Best mates indeed

Worth every cent of that $2m.

I did also giggle post game when I remembered the Port hypothetical trades in this thread.

Berry + Whitlock + some draft picks :laughv1:

All that and id still say he wasnt as good as he can be too, kicking still a touch sloppy at times and he seemed a bit distracted last night too.

Superstar player but needs to drop the tough guy act. He looked a bit silly in those scraps be got himself into. Butters is a bull, NAS isn't, should let his footy do the talking.

He did the Andrew Mcleod and went to half back in the last and just relaxed everyone aswell.

Yeah ill disagree.

He was targeted all game long and the Power players went the body every chance they got.

I didn't mind it. If he wants to be the best in the game he has to develop some mongrel. The nice guy types don't always produce their best during finals.

I also reckon most of Butters stuff looks pretty performative too. For every big tackle he gets like the one on Nas he also gives away a 50m by lipping off or gets fined for being a dickhead.

Nas on the other hand had that fend gather and burn on the wing (maybe on Berry?).

Just cause he looks unassuming doesnt mean hes not a big physical presence.

It was definitely a "growth" performance for him considering he has been MIA when heavy physicality and a tag have been applied this year. Whilst also giving the coaches their due for better positional balance last night.

Port had no answer for him.

Naz is so much stronger than he gets credit for. Early days people thought he was slight, however watching people try and tackle him, his core strength and fends are incredible. He can shrug just about anyone including Jeremy Cameron.

Sticking up for yourself isn’t a tough guy act.
Agree. Im talking about the times he initiated. It just didn't look his go.

Yep, they were getting stuck into him. But he also gave it back and I get the idea in theory but he looked so out of his weight division I wouldn't have been too inspired looking on.

Chest pushes etc are all that are needed to establish space and show them you won't be bullied. Going into jumper scragging is another level and you want to be capable if you are going to do it and he just doesnt have the size or stock to do it. Not suggesting he should be nice, but the tough enforcer act doesnt suit him.

It has nothing to do with “inspiring”. It’s making a stand for yourself and considering his 2 best mates play at port and one was tagging him. It’s probably a good place to start

Respectfully, people look at Naz's frame and think he is weak but quick. He is so much stronger then he seems, I saw his no look duck and weave in the little scuffle with Jarrod Berry the other week. I know who I am backing in a fight.

I dont think he is weak and I certainly don't think him and Butters in a boxing ring wouldn't be a great fight.

Im simply talking about the locking up/scragging bit. Just didnt look his go.

Anyway its such a minor thing to really get too worried about. Each will have their own view.

He has to be at this level every week - not 1 in 4.
Spot on, being new at getting tagged & scragged don’t think he knew how to overcome this close attention. Imo up against his best mates, he tried different things that he was comfortable with, probably fart arsing about early because of his mates & then realised “hey shit, this is the way to go” reckon the Port game is/was another turning point in his career.

I am gonna guess..... That should be enough for 3 Brownlow votes on the night.

Butters was a chance at the 3 - until he offended the umpire:

1 Goal
31 disposals (16 contested)
6 tackles
5 clearances
6 Score Involvements
631 meters gained (highest of the 2 teams)
10 I50's
9 coaches votes - equal with NAS.

When he cops a heavy tag, the coaches should slide him forward, drag everyone else up the ground and have him 1 out with his man. We know what Naz can do inside 50 and it would make the tag have to defend him one v one
