That will never happen because the afl have no balls re the aflpa.
Its BS… The AFL own the game.. If it makes for a better competition it should be on the table.. Players are cool to put their hand out for $2M pay checks, I’m pretty sure they can man up and drive 13 minutes extra to see their family..or even get on a plane to see their Mummy!

Three way trade between crows, saints and eagles? Saints get pick 1, crows get NWM, eagles get Curtin?

This isn't a bad deal but the projected pick 1 is a fwd/ruck - Saints are about to spend 1.5m+ on someone in that position already.

Just don't see how Adelaide get a deal done here, I reckon Port will still end up being his destination.

NWM reminds me of a young Mickey O. NWM won’t play midfield in a winning side - but when the chips are down, he’s a better X Factor than Butters.

Makes you wonder why he hasn't been involved in more X factor moments in his career to date.

I think St Kilda have missed a trick not playing him more around the ground

He’s Andrew McLeod V2..
He’s silk.. and clutch.. very fine player..
If the AFL ever want an equitable system NAS should only be able to I want a trade back home (SA) and Saints trade him for the best deal , whether it be crows or power.. Same with Reid, WCE might actually get a good deal if it was open to all Vic clubs.. but instead the lower clubs will always get shafted..
Doesn’t play remotely like McLeod.

- Doesn’t break lines like McLeod

- Doesn’t burst from packs like McLeod

- Doesn’t have McLeods leg.

Does have a better leap, can turn a defender better after a marking contest, can hold down a key marking position.

And if you don’t think Mickey O was ‘clutch’ - watch the 2005 PF vs St Kilda - last qtr.

I actually think you've managed to get every single point incorrect here.

Has a big profile trade ever involved a good player from the side gaining the player?

It’s usually picks and fringe types isn’t it.

Mostly yes because a lot of players dont want to move to bottom clubs and the players have the power. Picks and fringe players is the reality.

I agree with you but the reality is that ship has sailed and the afl have no appetite for it. It's not magically going to change now with the NWM deal.

I think all things being equal he would want to stay, plus he is contracted, but the saints need to get crafty. Offer him 800k a year, when he is likey on 400k at Adelaide and shake the tree a bit. Now, as a Crows supporter, he has to stay, but the Saints need to try anything. Adelaide put a big offer to their player, so they should do the same.
Even Butts. He is an excellent defender and is now in the 2nds after his injury. Offer him 700k as he would be the Saints best big defender. Again, he is contracted, but go for it.
In play doesn't he means he moves.

Just that the Saints will certainly ask the question?

Dawson
Rankine

Two recent examples of this not being the case in SA.

And what team did they end up at..
Clearly they are having no trouble attracting talent and are seen as a good destination. Even during their rebuild it was obvious they were amassing great talent. They are one quality midfielder from addressing their biggest deficiency and NAS would do just that. They have conceded the least amount of points of any team this year (#1 rated defence) and have the third most points for (#3 rated forward line). Not bad for a team supposedly lacking midfield stars. Add NAS and they round out their list.

Both those players I'll grant you went to the lower ranked team at the time but they would have used forecasting to see that the Crom were going to be on the way up and that Port had aging stars and hadn't had the top end draft currency to hit the draft for top end talent for a while. I stand by my point that the majority of the time, if given the choice, a player will go to the team he thinks is heading towards success. It's absolutely no surprise to me that the Crows are a huge chance to get NAS. I said as much a fair time ago in this thread. As with all things we wait and see. It's the most likely outcome in my opinion.

Watch his goal vs Essendon on Friday night bursting out of the centre, two bounces and kicking a goal from beyond 50… think you’ll see what I’m seeing…
Not sure where I said Micky O wasn’t clutch.. He sure was.. just don’t see NWM being a similar player type..

You would imagine one of Soligo, Worrell or Rachele will be in Black white and red next year.

The crows know that NWM is a complete game changer for them. They will be genuine box office next year if they land him.

You have to give quality to get quality. A first, a second and one of these players is ballpark.

None of those players would move unless they were offered a completely over the top deal

I’d imagine a three way deal including Aleer would be the trade. Something to the effect of two, maybe three firsts, plus Aleer

At least two of those guys would need to go to the saints- maybe all three. NWM is ones in gen type player.
