The last four points answer that very easily
Yeah I get that and fair enough but my point is that if NWM so “happy” at St Kilda then you sign up long term and then when the new CBA comes in you’ve signed him up long term and if he wants to leave the Saints have a very firm grip on holding him to his contract.

Brother you are embarrassing yourself. Do you realise that nobody agrees with what you are saying, and that who may have at some point have already moved on?

You need to stop posting, you're ruining the mood.
I’m embarrassing please give me a spell.

Saints supporters have been bloody obnoxious through this whole saga.

Nah the like of yourself, stavro#4, phantom13 and the rest of the Sanits board will be like Grant Denyer.

NO DEAL!!!!

Sorry man we are all still laughing at suggestions Whitlock is worth a first rounder and now he is untradeable or Bergman for Nas straight up.

Take the L and move on at this point. Sounds like you’re about to lose out on your first round gifts next year aswell… courtesy of us.

Mate Nas just signed on. He said he is happy. We're all happy. The only one in here that isn't happy is you. The only reactions you are getting are negative ones. You simply need to relax and take a break.

NWM is content with staying at St Kilda, not happy. If he were "happy" at St Kilda, he would have signed up for a long-term contract instead of the band-aid, fence-sitting 2-year deal, which it’s just a sugar fix so then if we are in a premiership window he can come home and if we are not that he can stay at St Kilda.
If Nas was waiting for port to be in a premiership window, he would have signed a 10 year deal with saints

That’s crap and you know it.

If anything, he signs a mega long-term deal with St Kilda, and if he wants to come home, it gives you guys even more power to hold him to his contract and is way harder to trade that sort of contract.

He signs two to more easier if he wants out in 2 years.
If he wants a long term contract at your club, why didn't he request a trade?

There’s only one person being obnoxious here champ. I can’t help but notice your questions have received many reasonable answers from a variety of posters. Here’s a little excerpt from Ben Williams today on SEN. Enjoy the light read, you’ve got a couple years to fill your time.

At any stage did you think that one of the suitors might have had their nose in front?

“All the suitors presented themselves really well with their vision for Nas and their clubs.

“And when you have those meetings or you hear them out, that always sounds exciting, and you dare to dream and you imagine what you'll be like there.

“But at the end, he just kept coming back to where he wanted to play, and that was St Kilda. He’s got the utmost faith where they're going, and he can't wait to be a part of it.

What was the thinking behind the two-year deal?

“It just gives him a bit more opportunity to grow as a player and as a person, and clearly it doesn't affect him being on short-term deals.

“So he just wanted to do that and to see how he's going, see how the club's going, and then reassess and hopefully extend in the future again.”

No the only people who’ve been obnoxious is Saints/Crows/Oppo supporters who’ve turned this thread bashing, mocking and abuseful into a Port Adelaide supporters. It’s been nightmare for moderators to moderate all because simply people couldn’t just stick to discussion topic.

Regardless of what NWM decision is, it’s completely unfair for people to cop abuse and troll in the manner they have.

What a ridiculous hill to choose to die on.

Did you bother reading the interview with his manager I posted?

Honestly mate, just let it go.

If Nas says he is happy, he is happy. You are kidding yourself if you think you know better than the man himself. He doesnt need Portwrld to tell him how he is feeling.

Your supporters spent the year telling us we don't deserve Nas and basically popping champagne as he became the best player in the comp. You have so much egg on your faces it's ridiculous and any mocking is absolutely justified. He's a Saint. Deal with it.

Stoked for the Saints to sign him for 2 years.
Probably should have picked a better day to announce it as most Port fans would have been preoccupied with the turmoil at the cross town rival to be too salty about this.

If I were Ports list management I'd turn the page and forget about him, you either want to be with us or you dont, none of this revisit it in 2 yrs rubbish.

Leave him in Melbourne away from his Family and friends if he likes it so much.
He's a good player but teams will put time into him and negate his inpact.
$2m is a lot of coin, lets see how he handles that pressure.
Ah yes, like when Sam Mitchell devoted a portion of his post match presser to saying that "we tried to put 3-4 different blokes on him to stop his impact but he's just too good."

Clubs are trying to stop him every single week... doesn't work

Nothing to worry about then.

This thread has 100+ pages of Port fans gloating that they will take Nas and give us **** all for it.

But it's the Saints fans that are being obnoxious.

Righto mate. Keep huffing that copium.

The thing that amazed me with all of this the various clubs ability to find $2 to $2.5million next year ( and the next ) at short notice as his value sky-rocketed over the last 3 or 4 weeks. The amounts for 3+ years are less impressive as list managers have 2 years to create the space but finding those extra $$ for 2026 & 2027 is a fair effort. Even top of the ladder Adelaide managed to find close to 1.5-2 $Million in the very short term. In the modern game the List managers role is second only to the coach (and maybe recruiter) in my opinion. A good one is worth their weight in gold.

Anyway - that's what I've learnt from all of this.

Keeping him, potentially just sets them back a long way in 2 years, when the crows and Port come again, but at least it could be in a better draft and they will have time to plan and (Crows/Port) potentially have better draft hands.
To be fair, they were in a no win situation. It was either pay overs, or lose him for less than he is worth in a trade with either Adelaide or Port.
Imagine the fallout from the media and supporters if they lost him?
At least they havent signed him for 10 years at 2 million, so if things go south in a couple of years they can get themselves out of it.
West Coast are in the same situation with Reid as well.
