Grigg I would say was on Fyfe last night. What he did well was cut his running path. He didn't go man on man, but was there as soon as he got the ball.

It looked like he went to him in the second half for a while when he was starting to get off the chain.

Been thinking about that a bit today and I hope he wins the Brownlow this year, because if Sandi retires as many expect, that will significantly reduce Fyfe's impact. If Clarke is their no.1 ruck, Fyfe won't get anything like the silver service he does at the moment.

Fyfe dominates without Sandilands anyway, like in 2013 when sandy was injured for ages. He will win any hardball that has been kicked to his vicinity ...that was his worst game for the year against the Tigers and still provided the best highlights.

No doubt, but he won't be having it popped into his pocket at every stoppage.

Lost me:confused:

Fyfe is a class above and a match winner rather than just an accumulator..

Armitage could be the highest fantasy footy/ DT accumulator ever and I still would not want him.
He's my captain! Lol

Welcome to the Ross Lyon is only a defensive coach club. Brought to you by those insightful characters that swear all Asians like to gamble, all Indians are taxi drivers, and all Australians like sausages and VB.

We know that Freo doesn't feature heavily on Free to Air in Melbourne so watch carefully tonight and see if you can update that old stereotype.

I seriously doubt that.

Is this when I say I told you so? :p

Fremantle are still incapable of kicking a big score so when we jumped them early they would have had to change their structures and game plan completely to give them the offensive power to score enough to come back. Cutting off their outside run around stoppages and in particular, Fyfe's ability to feed the ball out to running midfielders made Freo's offensive drive ineffective. They were under pressure the whole game, bombing it into their F50 and giving our defenders plenty of time to win the ball and sweep it out. This is why they won the hit outs, contested ball and inside 50's but we won the game.

Great coaching and pressure from the club.

I wouldn't call this an "I told you so" moment. Freo are th 5th most attacking team this year. They are the number 1 rated team in the comp for using the centre corridor, and Ross Lyon has not employed a tagger for the entire season. I wouldn't call any of these defensive tactics.
The whole team was down on defensive pressure and tackling on Friday night. Some people reckon it was because they played Adelaide in a really wet slog fest the week before, but I reckon they were just a little bit flat and were beaten by a better team on the night If you look at last season, Hawthorn lost 2 games in a row at this time of the year. (One of them to Richmond).
All in all, it probably doesn't mean a hell of a lot.

Fair call....wait til we play you in a few weeks and we'll reconvene ;)

So we played you, Fyfe was kept to 26 possessions, took one nice grab, kicked a goal and was otherwise powerless to effect the game in any way. Dusty played a better game. Fyfe is a great player but it takes a team to win a game and our team was clearly better than yours on Friday night.

Probably best to stay to the safety of your own board now :D

Freo are more attacking this year but when they need to score heavily and quickly they still struggle. They are no Port. They are still a Defensive team first, offensive team second.

It's amazing - the last four weeks according to the media and opposition supporters, we haven't won a single game but rather the opposition have lost them. The fact is Richmond out pressured Freo, cut off their outside run and used precise kicking to reduce turnovers. The whole excuses scenario - ie big game last week, been up for a long time - just makes you sound like the Channel 7 commentary team ;).

Take a leaf out of your coaches book and accept defeat humbly :thumbsu::)

The name is Naffan , Nat is up there with Matty White FFS.
He is absolutely no better than Lids was at a similar age , difference being Lids didn't have near the teammates nor a giant banging it down his throat. Take Sandiland away and everyone will see the front runner he is , who was questionably destroyed against Adelaide and definitely against us.
Cotchin within 50/50 clearances and Dustin outside absolutely destroyed him and it was a master plan by Hardwick.

i'll gladly take every team just unluckily playing bad against us if it means top 4. I mean, how lucky are we that we let these teams do what they want every week but they just decide to play shitty? Thank the stars that we spell 'lucky' P-R-E-S-S-U-R-E.

I love him. My favourite player outside of Richmond besides Bartel. He is an absolute superstar. Imagine how good the competition will be when Fyfe, Bontempelli and Hogan all hit their peak (I hope Hogan leaves the poisonous Demons though).
