Performances these past few weeks haven't been all too encouraging.

Has alot of raw skill, but needs to learn a few of the basics before he's even ready to give a senior gig a decent shake.

You would think he's a long way from debuting, which isn't a surprise really. Just putting people's minds back into the reality that Nathan really is a project player.

I'd be surprised to see him play seniors this year. He has a long way to go and I cant see how he would be a positive thing for the seniors by debuting later in the seaons. I still think he is a great long term prospect though.

He has to adjust to the speed and strength of footballers in the VFL before we consider him for any potential line up in the AFL.

Remember, he has come straight out of the BFL under 18's. Nothing against the BFL Under 18's, but it's a far cry from the TAC Cup U18s.

No need for warning bells... there have been many players who didn't play a game in their first season yet played some pretty good footy in the following years.

I would be surprised if he even gets short listed for a match this season.

Nothing to worry about yet at all. Mackie didnt play first year, McCarthy and Playfair didnt play first year, Spencer and Lonergan hasnt played yet. Talls take time and he is the rawest of the lot.

Hes also showed more than any of them did in their early days. Playfair took a season to get use to the VFL and he had a full season in the TAC cup. Ablett has played the occasional game at Modda.

Agreed.Playing time will make him the player we are waiting for.He really cant do anything about this except play games, from what Ive seen his talent will come to the fore as his experience grows. He also will be are far better package after 2 preseasons with the Cats, his body will be better prepared for the higher level ahead.
However can anybody confirm the work his is putting in off the field. I would like to think that he was pushing himself, eager to advance, keen to do all the things that he can control

Well Brian Cook said on the radio a couple of weeks ago that Nathan was really eager to learn and was spending heaps of time at the club just taking it all in. It's a giant step up from Modda U/18s to vfl and it will take time for him to get physically fit and match hardened.

Go CATS!!

He would have to be BLOODY good to get a game in our side right now. With Kent, Otto and Big H all doing their bit we would need some injuries followed by some loses. As long as we are winning he can stay in the VFL.

Thats my two bobs worth :)

The problem for Nathan is we have too many talls in the Kittens and not enough midfielders. They could all stagnate if the limited number of midfielders can't win and deliver the footy to give all the talls the much needed experience and confidence they require. We may have to promote them to senior level to see who can play when a decent midfield is in action. In a weird way sometimes a higher standard can make life easier for a forward as the delivery improves. This seemed to help Mackie step up last year..

I wouldn't be suprised if NA is still troubled by a knee because he hasn't seen much action and the coaches don't seem keen to put him anywhere near the pill.. I am also curious to see him play some footy at chb this year. Particularly if the most unbalanced side in the VFL continue getting slaughtered..

I watched the second half of the 2's on Sunday and he didn't get a kick. He seemed a bit lost. But not to worry he will take time. After a year or 2 on the weights he will be a big unit. Definantly a project player who will take time. But i have seen glimpses of what he is capable of and believe me the wait will be worth it.

I've heard a few things about him struggling with a knee injury, does anyone have any further info on this? Perhaps this would explain why his preseason form was so good (pre knee injury) and his form in the season proper has been not so good (post knee injury).

To be honest, at the moment, we just don't need him. Unless he kicks regular bags of 5, he aint gonna get a game for a while. Get him fit, teach him how to defend, get him into form. 2006 should be interesting.
