He is on track to kick 88 in the regular season.QUOTE]

I'll keep you to that quote DanA. Slot number 100 in the last quarter of the GF to put the icing on the cake on our first flag since 63. Sounds good to me.

I'm getting tired of correcting brainless idiots on this forum... I should make you go back and read the relevant posts in this thread, but since your a simple person, I'll make it simple for you.

People on here were coming out and saying he will be a 60+ goal kicker / a Lloyd, Fevola, a "Champion" etc. I think he will be a 40+ goal kicker, and if this happens I'll be very happy. I judged him when he had 12 goals from 12 games or so, and I don't think any differently now. How have I judged him too early? How does 2 good games make him a champion?
Mate, your just like all the old women at the footy, say something that isn't 100% positive about an Ablett and you get jumped on. Next time get your facts straight before having a dig, and you won't look like an idiot.
Mate, not having a go at you, but I hope you're wrong. 40+ goals basically makes him a Kent Kinsley. I would be hoping (and maybe not this year, but it has been a promising start) for 60-70 goals a season from him. That would put him with the likes of David Neitz, Scott Lucas, Quinten Lynch, Mark Williams, etc. So not in the star class of Fev, Hall & Lloyd, but better than Kent and other 40 goals kickers. As I said, this is what I'm hoping for. Not saying you're wrong, just hoping you are....

I repeat you are a tool that cannot take any criticism. You have never said Ablett would be a 40 goal a season player - you said he was no good. By the way I can't remember anyone talking about him in the same breath as Lloyd or Fevola, I think that is a figment of your own imagination. If you can't stand the heat then bugger off.

You are the one that is looking more and more like an idiot. Should actually pole it....

Rubbish.. I said I would be very happy if he kicked 40+ per season.

People on this forum have stated he will be a "champion". An example of a champion playing in Nath's position is Lloyd, Lockett, Fevola etc.

I'm contributing to the topic. You are chasing my posts and trying to flame. You really need a life...

He's the kind of player who isn't talented enough to become exceptional without working hard, and to put it simply, he doesn't give a $hit anyway...

Would say it's completely the opposite actually, he's one of those players who's naturally gifted with superb skills and a keen footy brain, who could "possibly" rise to great heights on those attributes alone, and nobody really knows exactly what his attitude is like, so saying he "doesn't give a $hit anyway" is pure speculation.

wouldnt quite call fevola a champion...dunstall, gary ablett snr?

Wayne Carey made an interesting comment on Footy Confidential just then.

He said that watching Nathan last year he really had his doubts over whether he would make it. He said he looked slow and not great below his knees.

BUT... He said he liked what he saw of him this season. In particular the confidence he has and the "strut" that he has going. No doubt the Duck loves to see others waddling like he did!

Correct. Llyod maybe. I think he can be as good as Fev and possibly slightly more well rounded than Llyod.

Cant be measured in goals alone either especially as he is playing CHF for some of his games. For example twice (that i can remember) he gave off perfect dishes on the weekend that lead to people running into open goals. Okay so it is just a handball and mark stat but it was also worth 6 point on the scoreboard.

Champion is thrown around WAY too much but there are a lot of people who had a big dip at the young man at the start of this thread and haven't said BOO since. Martyk at least came back in to explain himself - good work mate.

I still say he will be a good player and could possibly be a champion (10 years worth of the games we have seen this year are needed first - a tough ask for anyone!!). I think the thing that does excite me about him is that with Hawkins and Moondog we have a forward line capable of winning us a flag and do not be fooled into thinking that Nathan isn't a required and essential part of that forward line. He has a LONG way to go and still may not make it but he has shown enough in the senior games he has played and in the VFL finals series last year to suggest he is one of the better prospects of his age and experience in the AFL. Can we ask for more than that?

Forget what happened on Saturday, Fevola is a champion and would probably be kicking 120 goals a year in any decent side. To kick the number of goals that he does in a team that consistently finishes last is exceptional.

At the moment I wouldn't put Nathan even close to Fev but if he turns out to be as good I'm sure every Geelong supporter will not hesitate to say that Nathan is a champion. I hope that he gets there - Saturday's effort showed that he might.

Fevola won the Coleman Medal with 84 goals last year making him the goal kicking champion of the AFL. Why wait until a player is past their best or finished before recognising their talent?

one coleman medal does not make you a champion. hell scott cummings won a coleman. is he a champion?

fevola has had one excellent year, and two or three good to very good years. the rest of em have been ordinary, and hes in his 8th season this year. so by that reckoning not even half of his career as been played at a high level.

i would suggest he needs at least another 3 years of high level performances before the term champion can be bandied about where hes concerned.

Agree with Diablo on this one. Not quiet there yet.

Back to Nathan though. I would like to throw in one little cliche that i think fits

"he looks a likely type"

:p
