Just a quick warning to people, let's not use this thread as a vessel to attack the police. Some policemen don't give a damn, just like there are some people in every profession that don't give a damn, but blanket statements like "the police don't care" are off-topic and quite frankly foolish.

On the story, has the club made any statement yet? This could turn into a really important (in a bad way) story for the Crows. The last thing we need is another player getting in trouble with the law, especially one held in such high regard as Nathan Bock.

Yes we have. Standard communications stuff...this happened and we'll deal with it at the appropriate time. Can't expect much more than that at this stage.

fair call commander

i'll edit my posts accordingly

Not the best news for Nathan or the club. Hopefully know one was seriously injured and this sounds a lot worse that it is. I am sure the club will deal with the matter effectively and i doubt that the issue will be swept under the rug.

The Advertiser is probably just blowing the situation out of porportion.
Bock always seems like a relaxed, down to earth guy, so I doubt he would ever assault someone without being provoked, but as usual The Advertiser only prints half the story (and of course, the half is damning a well known football player.)

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the Advertiser's back. I'd say they're just reporting the initial details that they know. They'll update the article when they have more info.

On the issue its self, its disappointing. I really like Bock and he has never stepped out of line before. I just hope this doesn't put a blight on his career.

Having seen some of the complete ****wits in that joint and around in general, then it's hardly surprising.

Young people are stupid.

(Touch wood) I can't imagine that this incident would be any worse than any of the others to come out of our club previously, and we've all moved on from them. It's just a time and place thing.

No point getting too worked up about this yet, as far as we know some ****wit opposition supporter was getting up in his face, Bock pushed him away, the drunk idiot fell over and broke a table or bar stool. Normally the bouncers would have just evicted both parties, but being a famous face a fuss was made.

Having chatted to Nathan recently and the impression I've got from over his career is that he's a very laid back bloke and it seems quite out of character. As happens a lot with these type of things, its quite often just some clown trying to gain his 15 minutes of fame. Beyond that, lets wait for the full story to come out, at the moment we have nothing.

You Adelaide supporters can be such hypoctites. Why defend a bloke who has done the wrong thing??
You record with players being charged is not great. You've had some pretty serious stuff with Johncock, Carey, Thompson and now Bock. And of course your captain's betting indiscretions and "altercations" with the blokes in the media.

Every club has them.. we have had Brown, Renouf and plenty of innuendo (with nothing concrete) on Franklin. Bock has had the same innuendo surrounding him for YEARS. A football club is a reflection of society... even the Swannies with a "no ********s" policy still has them... EVERY club does.

Not sure why you become so ridiculously defensive of a footballer who thinks they are above society. The average Joe Blow in the street who acts like a tool can not be compared to a footballer who is paid BIG bucks to act in a manner befitting a elite sportsman ( especially in season).

Now he may be found not guilty... but the finger pointing at other parties etc is so childish. He is the one charged and while the charge is serious enough.... the backlash has to go onto a senior player who 24 hours after a loss is in a 2am city pub altercation.

Wow, WCE v Port, channel 7 keep showing a scrolling news strip at the bottom of the screen a la CNN, saying "CROWS STAR NATHAN BOCK CHARGED WITH ASSAULT, DETAILS AT 5.30" or something similar. The capitals are so big i'm surprised they haven't cut from the telecast and gone live to the newsvans outside Bock's house. Maybe got in some experts to talk about what these charges mean, shown stock footage of the Havelock.

I can't wait to hear all about this, every day, every hour, on the internet, television, and radio. I'm sure there will be lots of balanced, researched opinion and discussion, and that no-one's privacy will be invaded in the reporting of this obviously world-shaking story.

Joelie - The point is we don't know what happened. People have been charged before and found not guilty later. As we don't know what's happened it's only natural that Adelaide supporters are going to postulate (hope?) about how it may have gone down in a way that sees Bock come off looking better. There is nothing hypocritical about that.

Bock has not ever shown signs of thinking he is bigger than society which is why we have said it is out of character for him. I'm not sure where you've gotten this idea from that he thinks of himself as a big shot because I've just never heard it.

Pull your head in.

wow you actually came on here to say that.... wow

Just said on Channel 10 news, and I think I heard it correctly - the charge related to a disturbance in a fight with his girlfriend. Anyone else catch that?

Where's the hypocrisy? Innocent until proven guilty, or does that no longer exist in our society. There is every chance this is some bs trumped up charge which amounts to nothing. I'm not defending his actions, nor is anyone I don't think, the thing is we DON'T KNOW what happened and quite often, when it comes to high profile members of the community, things are blown completely out of proportion. There is also always 2 sides to a story and at the moment, we barely know one of them.

Now as for this innuendo you speak of, wtf? Bock has none of the innuendo of Franklin, none what so ever, in fact, as far as I know.

Just reported on channel 10 news. A fight with his girlfriend and he was drunk.

Start of the season and you're out at 2am & drunk.

I hope the club deals with this properly for a change & not sweep it under the carpet.

Assault against his girlfriend and property damage. His girlfriend is always in at the supermarket I used to work at, will have a look out for a black eye or 2.

lol, the whole side was on the gas last night.

it was just bocky who did something 'naughty'.

People need to approach this subject with caution

If Bock has broken a team rule like a curfew or a drinking policy then he needs to be dealt with accordingly with the same consistency of others before him

However in regards to the assault charge, I too have been charged with assault to later be not only found not guilty but to also receive a apology from the judge hearing the case.

I was charge with assault after my single female neighbour with kids raised the alarm during a home invasion, even though the intruder had a screwdriver I was charged with assault after breaking his shoulder, 3 court appearances and 18 months later I was found to have no charge to answer.

From my experience the Police will charge if they believe their is just cause like an injury and allow the courts to deal with the matter, in my books this approach stinks and can be avoided if the police spent more time up front to investigate the incident.

For one moment I am not saying that Bock's situation is the same as mine, however what I am saying without knowing the facts people should approach this matter with caution.

However what is not disputable if Bock has broken a team rule than he needs to face the music accordingly like others before him.

I made an error in saying "you" are so hypocritical.

MANY supporters from ALL clubs are.

You lot love it when a port player (ie Brogan) or a Pie (Didak/Shaw) does something... cant wait to jump on it. To be critical of the "culture" at another club. It only hurts more when it is eventually one of your own... but you have to accept it... not make up fictitious crap about people picking on him etc etc....
Port wait for an Adelaide players to stuff up. Carlton wait for the Pies to stuff up... Pies cant wait for Fev to do something stupid. I personally love it when Richmond stuffs up... and then I am red faced when I hear the things players from my mob do. THere's nothing worse than waiting for a footy scandal to break.... and you just pray it isnt yours.

But I just find the defence of this bloke (on this occasion)... the accusations at everyone but the bloke thats done the wrong thing laughable.

And it turns out to be a bashing of his G/F.... will you now turn on her and say she deserved it???
