I'm pretty sure they don't have a curfew any more. That was just for that period of time when we were trying to get in the finals I think, or were in the finals.

They still had a curfew last year - I was at a gig in March or April last year that Nick Gill's band was performing at and he left at 11pm because of the Crows curfew.

On Triple M this morning they said they believed the Crows players have a 2am curfew (Ali Carle - who goes out with Matty Clarke - agreed, but she wasn't 100% sure) and if you remember a few years ago, Vince and Hudson were suspended for being out a few minutes past curfew. That panicked me - since Bock was out past 2am and he was arrested. Even though he is our best player, they shouldn't just not suspend him because "we need him". You can't suspend 2 players for just being out a few minutes past, and not suspend a player who was out AND arrested.

There would be a few players in trouble then....

Or were they banking on the fact they had an extra hour thanks to daylight saving .

Wrong, wrong, wrong. For starters, there are no such thing as indictments and misdemeanours in South Australia (or, as far as I know, anywhere else in Australia). Second, the fact that the alleged assault was against his partner has, in a legal sense, nothing to do with anything. Bock was charged with assault under the Criminal Law Consolidation Act - there is a separate Domestic Violence Act with presumably harsher penalties (I'm no expert on the subject) under which no charge has been laid. The worst that could happen is that he could be charged with aggravated assault, but in a situation like this where the bloke is clearly not going to jail, it would for all practical purposes just be calling the same thing a different name.

In South Aust we have summary offences, minor indictable and major indictable offences!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Assaults come under the CLCA and can range from summary offences (threats, minor injuries) to indictables where injuries are types where harm is caused or to spouses/elderly/committed in company of others etc.
There is no separate Domestic Violence Act for charging people but you might be referring to applications for Restraint Orders which is contained within this act.
Please do some research before labelling others as being wrong.

This whole "they are adults, and like the rest of us, they can stay out late drinking as they wish" argument is abit weak IMO. Whether they like it or not, they are role models so surely these precious little darlings can make a few sacrifices for what is a damn good life.

If we were offered, rather than work a nine to five job we could be professional footballers, do what we love as a job, get paid 100s of thousands of dollars and get an unbelievable start in life and all we had to do was live by a 12 o'clock curfew and curb our drinking for 6 months of the year what would you do?

The family friend of his chick clearly seems to believe that this is an ongoing issue. Nothing major about that. Everyone knows those couples that fight like nothing else and often end up drunk and fighting out in social situations. It's painful for the people around them to have to deal with it and it becomes a constant merry go around of BS.

Re Gets, well there wasn't much to go on there but I'm guessing he hits the clubs regularly and has seen Bock out paro a bit and thought it was bound to blow up and some stage coz he is high profile.

I wouldn't feel comfortable putting in a specific person on here if i knew them (and I'm sure not many would) otherwise i could probably freak a few of you naive supporters out on here which would be great fun but not worth it coz these guys are my mates or best mates of my good mates who i like and spend time with and this is just a random internet board.

So don't ask me to name specific people or details but just know that over the journey the public dramas the AFC have had including this latest one is an amazingly good run compared to what it could have been/what some clubs have had to deal with.

Don't automatically assume fewer incidents = better behaved players on a particular team or more incidents now with craigs teams than say the 97/98 teams under blight means they were more disciplined back then etc

Supporters who have passed judgement that they are disappointed/angry a player was out on the piss at 2am after a loss this early in the year etc etc need to decide to live in fantasy land, be prepared to be very disappointed or get a reality check about how many AFL players live and just hope like hell they don't get exposed to often.

No matter what happened with Bock I'd bet big money that it will be blown up ten times bigger than it is and the punishment will be whatever they think they can get away with to appease the media wolves and those club supporters who live in a make believe world and have unrealistic expectations of players.

I'm surprised how many of the boys in melbourne 'let loose' on illegal substances in public. I've seen a couple do such things in publicview which surprised me.

Not condoning this stuff but a few drink out after 2, no issues at all. Football players aren't super human, they shouldn't be deprived a life because some people thing their 'role models' (you have a choice on who you label as role models too) shouldn't hit the clubs.

unrealistic and very easy to say when you and I would give our right nut to play AFL but a lot harder to live when you can play at that level on your ear.

Take the most extreme case, say all 16 clubs had a gentleman's agreement to have no drinking in the season and 12 o'clock curfews. How long before they start getting eaten away at coz you know you could get Buddy or Selwood etc etc to come to your club if you relaxed a few rules and let them live a bit more which they can't do where they are playing now and you know they are still going to carve up. So you would offer them something their clubs are not prepared to do and they'd walk for the lifestyle.

Now imagine just one club tried to do that. There would be a mass exodus of the best players - the ones who don't drink or go out. Every club would have a couple of insanely committed players who don't drink, do drugs, go to clubs etc who are prepared to do what ever it takes to win a flag. You don't think they don't try and get everyone on the list doing the same thing knowing it would help win a flag no doubt. Of course they do, but apart from short bursts like "no drinking from round 20 till after finals" etc they don't work and the instigators get a lot of resistance.

With so many youngsters on our list, we can't have a senior player like this on our list. It will hurt us in the short term bigtime but long term it will benefit the club.

Oh we all know too well that players often “do the wrong thing” by the AFL standard but more often that not, nothing gets talked up because most people realise these guys need a life. I remember being at a party full of AFL players I reckon of the 40-50 people there about 5 of us were full on booze, the rest were clearly not drinking but under the influence of something interesting. I remember seeing a couple of Crows players there and they made me happy because clearly they were drinking.

Personally I couldn’t care what they do as long as it doesn’t end up on the front page of a newspaper and result in them missing games.
