Recommitted Nathan Broad [Re-signed until 2022]

Mate Roughead was a restricted free agent who told the club he wanted out. No other club wanted him enough to even sign him during the free agency window, hence the token pick for a trade. Dogs had to accept a late pick or he would've walked for nothing anyway.

Nothing alike.

edit: great pickup for pies though
Roughead was also playing in our 22 at the end of the season, so you're right, they're not alike.

Quote me if Broad gets anything better than a 3rd rounder. I'd be shocked if he did, unless it was a cumulative bunch of later picks in some complicated trade scenario

Did you even read what I said? Jordan was leaving FOR NOTHING if the trade didn't get done. No one wanted him.

You are correct, he finished off the year in the dogs 22 (who finshed 13th) sharing the ruck duties with another inbetweener in Trengove. The ruck depth was horrendous, but at the time a better option than Tom Campbell  or a beanpole Tim English. It's a little different to being behind one of the best defenders in the league in Grimes and now one of the best young defenders in Balta, for the reigning premiers.

Roughead was a poor example. It's a bit different when there will be multiple suitors as opposed to the above scenario. The suns fan was the one who said they aren't likely to be using pick 36 anyway, that's why I said it'd be a fair deal. Late 2nd/early 3rd for a lock in at least a dozen teams seems reasonable to me. But what would I know...

Idk mate you are the expert

You'd feel pretty good about yourself after winning a flag no?
A 24-year-old with two years experience on an AFL list and only 3 months before was a complete unknown (he had only played 2 games before July '17).

He took a celebratory photo with a girl he was casually seeing that was shared with a small group of friends, that unfortunately got spread much wider than Broad or the girl intended. Remember the girl in the photo never wanted Broad charged for distribution of the photo, just wanted the help of the police to prevent the spread after the whole saga blew up.

Sounds like the actions of a few people who were unfamiliar with the lifestyle of a 'known' AFL player, especially one of a premiership player. There would be dozens of photos similar to the one Broad shared that would be circulating groups chats every week amongst people in their 20's in Australia. I'm not saying that his actions were acceptable, just saying that they are more common than the older generation would assume.
AFL player or not it's low act and I'm not old, nothing either of you said has any relevance. Anyone who shares a photo like that in a group chat is either insecure or an idiot.

Pick #36 looks about the value , Need to remember that this years #36 will most likely be around 45

Pick 36 for dual premiership player your dreaming mate regular best 22 only lost his place due to depth either a pick in mid 20 or a established good young player.

If he's lost his place then doesn't that make him the depth? I don't think you can claim best 22 if he's not getting in whilst he's not injured

Beats the point would walk into atleast 10 sides straight up mate..Like I said dual premiership players don't go for a pick 36 or 45 dreaming.

Similar situation to Butler in the sense that the talent is there, enough to get into quite a few other teams best 22, but if they're not Best 22 at their current club the value drops significantly. I agree that he's certainly worth more than Pick 36, but he's also not worth as much now as he was at the start of the year where he was Best 22

He was best 22 up until about 3 weeks ago

His competition is tough it's different to being in a bottom 4 team and not getting a run

I know, that's why my comparison in terms of talent was Butler, and we've seen depth players for teams at all different positions on the ladder go for similar picks

Cleary, Twomey and Beveridge were on a GC Suns podcast yesterday.
They were talking about Broad to GC as almost fait accompli.

We had the mid-sized forward kick a lot of goals on us this year - see below. His addition would add a lot of steel and experience to a relatively young defence.

Gunston 4 goals
De Goey 4 goals
Rayner 3 goals
Wood 2 goals
Riewoldt 2 goals
Langford 2 goals
Battle 2 goals
Himmelburg 2 goals
Hayward 2 goals
Fritsch 2 goals
Georgiades 2 goals

Not sure how a trade would go down.
3rd round probably?
3 year contract hopefully.
What podcast

Broad has been overtaken by Noah Balta this year in Richmond's preferred Back 6.

But if we look at the Richmond backline:

Astbury, Grimes, Balta
Baker, Vlaustin, Houli

w/ Jayden Short the 7th.

Who does Broad replace? He's the first replacement defender if one of Astbury, Grimes or Balta are injured-- but is a role player in comparison to those three.

Ok? I didn't say otherwise

I said he has played 13 games in. Short season which is most

He is the 2nd most winning player in football (wins/lose) and a significant amount of that is due to broad significantly improving the backline

Craig Bird, finished in the top 10 B+F the year Sydney won the premiership in 2012
Played 91 games in 4 years from 2010-2014 - during which Sydney went 1/2 in grand finals.
Wasn't best 22 in 2015 (only played 6 games) and was traded @ age 26 to Essendon.

Pick 14 (1161 points) + Craig Bird for Pick 23 and pick 44 (1147 points)

He was traded for nothing.

Obviously, a little different to Broad considering he played 13/17 games as opposed to 6/22 games.
But goes to show that just because you're a key player in a premiership team doesn't automatically add 25+% to your value.

Would be very welcome, would also allow Ballard to move into a more intercepting role and give us a further experienced head in the back line.

Powell - Collins - Budarick
Bowes - Broad - Ballard
Broad isn't probably a proper 2nd tall defender but this looks a lot better than our defense did at points this year if it all goes through.

Picking a trade from 5 years ago (the first season of the Draft points system) without placing any context around it is a bit misleading.

This trade was done as an act of "good will" to Essendon in return for an agreement that they wouldn't bid on Callum Mills at Pick #4/#5, allowing Sydney to keep some of it's later draft picks. In the end a bid on Mills came earlier with Melbourne at Pick #3, but it did have a major part to do with it.

Where's Lukosius ?

Surely to CHF?
Not yet, he is probably another year in the gym away from being strong enough to play as a KPF. Just needs a bit more man strength to last in contested marking situations. He sticks the odd one here and there but he is just lacking some strength at the moment. Best fit is on the wing delivering the ball inside 50. Be a top 10 possible top 5 kick in the league already. Need to use him to his strengths

Did not really matter you said or i said , wait and see what is his value after trade. You will either be right or wrong , simple as that .
