Ran into the adonis of a man today.

Asked how his injury was tracking along - said he aims to be back just before the finals.
Asked him if the club think they can really finish top 4 and he said absolutely and wouldn't be pushing it to get back in if they didn't think they were a legit flag chance.

Said competition in the back line is really tough like when he first started.

Asked about Ben Reid and he said he keeps injuring himself. Said he would play forward and and in jest said he can actually take a mark unlike Travis. I LOLED.

Got a photo with the man too!

No way we bring in brown for the finals. He's dreaming.
In previous years when we had no depth it might have been an option but not this year.

Power of positive thinking. Ain't a bad thing.

Good to hear he's tracking well.

If Keeffe or Frost weren't available and Brown had a couple of weeks in the VFL, of course we would
Sharanberg will be ready by then.
Brown won't be fit enough for finals full stop.
Too risky to take in in his condition he needs a preseason before enpven considering playing again.

lol, Scharenberg is as much of a key back as Seedsman..

Worked out alright in 2010?

Sure, we had no option. But the fact remains that Brown came in for two clutch games and got the job done?

If Oxley probably has a better chance of playing fullback than Sharenberg at the moment.

2010 was a different scenario. He made a fairly miraculous recovery and played the month leading up to the finals, as well as the qualifying and the prelim before being selected for the grand final when Presti pulled out.
Given this is his second reco on the same shoulder I doubt he will be so lucky this time around.
Eade said it was a 16 week recovery period, which translates to a about 3 years with Eade BS factor considered.
The way he's going he's more likely to be making his comeback through the Murray football league with Brad Dick.
They both have had about the same amount of recos now.
If by chance he got himself right by finals time I still think no way would you play him, finals intensity is way too risky to bring him back off a double should reco, leave him to recover over the preseason for next year.

Hmm a first year, way undersized fullback (Scharenberg) in big finals against Tippett/Franklin/Hawkins/Gunston/Roughead, sounds like a great plan :drunk:
This is the reason I've said that Cloke should be developed as a full back. You wouldn't put him on franklin but the rest he would do a better job of out muscling than anyone else we have in the side. That is assuming we get Reid fit, and hopefully karnezis too. Frost did a very good job on franklin last time around, and he's gotten better since then.

Should say also that Jonathan Marsh is really impressing in the back line in the VFL of late.
We are all well aware of his shortcomings, but as a shutdown 194cm defender he's looking the goods.
Rather see him developed as a forward or midfielder long term, but while his footskills are a bit suspect he's a great option down back if we get any unexpected injuries.

Well Brown is unlikely to start telling fans that ask him the same question everyday he's not doing enough work and being a lazy ****er so no chance in 2014 is he?
