I will watch this kid develop with great interest over the next two years or so. He is a strong boy, has a good left foot, and he's starting to run off his opponent at the right times. We've picked up three gems from last year's draft - Ben Reid, Nathan Brown and Tyson Goldsack - and Brad Dick looks promising.

The future looks exciting. :thumbsu:

agreed, not so sure about dick tho. what are you baseing your opinion on?

Thats a bit harsh, I reckon the kid has shown plenty in his few senior games!

He is very lightly framed & will need time to develop before he can stand up to the rigours of AFL footy.

Has the skills & pace to be a damaging player for us in the future :thumbsu:

Dick will standout soon in our side with his pace and his skill by foot...something alot of our players don't have! so if he can put enough muscle on in the next couple of preseasons to come without losing any pace then he will be invaluable. Nathan Brown i like the look of only watched the one game this year in the VFL (the first round against Werribee) but i think his spoiling efforts are great and he's pretty quick and ready built can't wait for him to have a couple preseasons under his belt.

Dick will be a sensational player for Collingwood, but even a blind man can see he's going to take time to put the weight on for AFL.

*cough*Martin Clarke*cough*

I've heard some bad reports from Willi games about Brown, yet the times I've seen him he's been ok. Is much better when the play is 'live' as opposed to having to think about positioning and his kicking at stop plays has been bad. But he is strong, athletic, committed, quick a good spoiler and showed a good footy brain when I saw him.

And our track record of producing competent defenders is excellent, so I expect him to be very valuable in about 3 to 4 years. Might be some growing pains, but it'll be worth it.

More consistent Aaron/Alwyn Davey with better skills in 3 years.

I agree with that. They are older too.

If Brad puts on weight over the pre-season, I think he may produce next year in the firsts. Could be that outside, pacey midfielder we've been crying out for for a few years.

You make a valid point, FIGJAM. :D

when is brown gonna debut? ive had him in my dreamteam all year, i figured he would get a run before goldsack clarke and a few others but he hasnt.. i havent really kept up with his progress, has he had injuries? poor vfl form? or what

It's pretty doubtful that he'll make his debut this year. His form, overall, has been pretty moderate for Williamstown. I'd be dropping him from my DT if I were you.

Brad Dick struggled on the weekend apart from a good 10minute patch in the 3rd qtr

it was to be expected given the conditions.....mud for a centre square and heavy conditions all around the ground, perfect conditions for the bigger bodied coburg/richmond players

Have been watching Brown down at Williamstown for most of the year. Has been improving steadily during the season. Left footer tends to kick the ball too high in the air but even his kicking has improved lately. Handled Hawkins well during the Geelong game and Hawkins is a future star. Expect him to be a regular next year.
Don't know how people can accuse Dick of being a dud. Once he fills out he will be a star. It depends how hard he wants to work. Not as lazy as Leon. His last couple of games he has been out bodied by bigger opponents.
Toovey may not be the best player going around but at least he has a dip. Expecting big things from him next year.
Bryan is one of those players who is good at VFL level but doesn't have the pace to cut it at AFL level. If he decides to work his butt off in the pre-season next year and maybe lose a couple of kilos he could develop into a handy backup for Josh.
Each year Richards either looks ready to produce and gets injured, or plays well or not well in patches and spends a lot of time on the pine watching. He needs to spend the entire game rucking to get some confidence into him.
