Apparently 65% of betting on the Brownlow Medal for 2000 has been on Collingwood captain Nathan Buckley.
Do you think he deserves this attention, and if not who else does?
Shane Crawford, Robert Harvey, Wayne Carey, Ben Cousins and Michael Voss are also shortening in the odds. Is there room for a dark horse to scoop the award from any of these undoubtedly talented players?

Like Wayne Carey, If Buckley hasn't won the Brownlow by now, it seems that he never will.

No doubt it will be between Crawford and Harvey (yawn).

If Peter Burgoyne steps up again like he did in 99, he could be Port's best Brownlow prospect.

If the Eagles have a bad year, Ben Cousins will poll well. Usually they share the votes around, but he seems to attract attention from the umps. (Not that he doesn't deserve them! It's just that some of the better players -at all clubs- don't get the votes they deserve [Jakovich, McKenna, McIntosh....])

Peter Burgoyne for the Brownlow is the most ridiculous prediction for the Brownlow since Zeno Tzastsaris

You people forgetting that Nathan Buckley missed 6 games last year? And still ran close to winning the brownlow, second if I remember right. IF he plays most if not all the games this year then the odds are right. He will easily win the brownlow!

Buckley only gets votes because there are no good players at Collingwood to take votes of him.

But is it easier or harder to shine when you have few talented players to back you up on the field?

Less back up and support means fewer opportunities to show what you are made of, but you also stand out more when you get the opportunity. Does it all even up in the end?

Look at the history of the Brownlow and it traditionally goes to players at bottom clubs because performers have players spreading the load - which club has won the most Brownlows

Sydney

I'm being completely biased here

but i think a fit Voss or Akermanis can win it

as for Buckley ... i've still not forgiven him.... so much for going to Collingwood to play in finals .....might have seemed good in 94 been a bit bare since..... looks like Brisbane had the last laugh there
