I'm with you mate and that pretty much sums up the point of why I started the thread ........I knew the scrotes in here that wear rose colored glasses and dribble from the mouth when Nathan breathes air would take the bait.

This may seem like trolling, but in my opinion this or any open forum is about discussion and/or promoting discussion. Too many people on here have unrealistic beliefs, and need to take a large dose of reality.

I for one view Nathan the same as any other bloke on the list...
Want an example of the flip side? Josh Hunt. He gets tarnished by the media a couple of times for silly mistakes and everyones soaks it up like a sponge, some here even suggested dropping him??? Look at his stats (not newspaper bull$hit). Huge contributer! Huge!

My point, read between the lines / don't buy into hype and media bull$hit! Think of Nathan without the Ablett.

this is not fair for hard training / working young blokes in the system. Think for a minute about how they would feel about this situation. The same as all of you feel when the bosses daughter / son / cousin whatever gets preferential treatment at work. This was my point earlier, being an Ablett should not put you in front of the line!

I'm tipping that someone (wont mention names) trained their guts out when they were younger but always got selected on the bench whilst the talented kids never trained and start at FF, CHF, Ruck, etc.

Someone sucked at footy as a child.... any guesses who it could be?

Can't he just be a good footballer who can contribute to the side/team? Not every player is a star, but there are even players without star credentials that are just as important to the make up of the side. In that they do their job well. Darren Milburn strikes me as that kind of player. Nathan could end up just being a good player who kicks 30+ goals a year in support of our other forwards. That would be quite respectable and make him worth the effort.

Read the thread mate, a few of us have said exactly the same thing.

Can you give me a better option than Nath...just one bloke on our list who should be getting a game before him in the games we have played so far this year?

Oh and can you also find a KPP taken after him in the draft?

And also why have other coaches, talent scouts, and other football administrators all said he can play AFL and has the talent to be a very good player?

Frankly I think that is what most people have been saying the whole time. I haven't seen too many people bar excitable teenagers claiming that Nathan was the new Jason Dunstall of our generation. We just want to see him do well and there is no reason why he can't become a very handy player in the future. If he's even better than that then fantastic. I think it's a bit silly to label him a dud, especially when he's still learning the game at elite level. Most kids don't hit their straps for a few years, and you wont find many exceptions (eg. Judd, Gary Sr., etc)

Here's the problem, Nathan was drafted from Modewarre U/18's, probably one of the worst performing clubs in Victoria. His time is only early in AFL, can you really expect him to shine straight away?

That's the problem with alot of Geelong supporters, they hardly ever give anyone a chance. Last year I bet most of you were writing off Otto, now look at him! What about Mooney? Most of you all were probably writing him off at the end of 2003 season!

I've had enough of the crap most of the so called supporters dished out the past few years. No wonder Cam Mooney moved up to Melbourne!

Every year the slate is wiped clean and given a fresh start. This whole "last year" and "in those days" mentality is CRAP! OK? Seriously! Get over the past, look forward to the future!

I even heard a few snickers here and there from "supporters" who already wrote off Hawkins after a half a game!

Can you see the small town mentality here?

Nathan is developing along and will continue to develop. As a bigger player they have always required more time and as mentioned considering the base from where NAthan started his FAL careeer from country U18's and non TAC background, I would say he doing OK.

As far as a clean slate each year this is a misnomer. Players/coaches/carry baggage from previousl years. Players need to improve the skills and remove the errors from their game.

If we had a cean slate in reality then playes like Mooney would be forgiven for brain fades. reports, S J would be in the seniors and LIng could kick the ball forwards.

Nathan is a better player than the likes of Henry, Charlie G, so he is our third tall option. Lets just allow him game time and also have his teammates actually kick the ball to him for his advantage. In front when he leads or to his side of the defender on hi instead of haphazard disposal.

Precisely. He's not even a regular at AFL level yet. Desist from referring to any so-called "star" quality, now or prospective. Just let him get on with it and hope he becomes a regular who makes a worthwhile contribution week-in-week-out. Genuine "stars" are few and far between.

hey guns im new to the board but have read the posts on this forum for ages..and i thought 2 myself wat a good time 2 post my oppinion!

in regards 2 nathan not showing as much as hoped at this very EARLY stage all that needs to be done is look at the players in the 2004/2003 and even 2002 that were drafted 2 be key fowards and i think most of you who doubt nathans progress will change your view!!!

Lynden Dunn- has shown abit but no more than what nathan has and he was drafted at pick 15!!!!!

Jarrod Roughead- will be a good player (if not a "star") in a few years but is everybody on his back about how he has not forfilled potential?? and he was the 2nd pick!!!

Lance Franklin-Is going to be a star this year but only started to get his head right last year so i would say nathan is only a year or so behind his development and franklin was pick 5!!

Courtney Johns- Ablett is at the same stage as this kid and was drafted a year later!!! Essendon hav patience unlike some on this forum!

I think its time everybody got off nathans back and let him develop into a footballer! let him get his body right! Guys the kid is still ajusting from cr*p country football to AFL if anyone on this forum can tell me they could make that transfer and be a gun in 2 years then do it and prove me wrong!!!!!!

McCarthy, Gardiner, Playfair, Lonergan and even Cameron Mooney had years to show they something.

Bar Mooney, Nathe has showed more than all of them at AFL level.

Was referring to the opinions of others on this board more than what is actually taking place on the field
