Out of contract next year, Has he got a future with the club?
There is alot of players before him!

Nathan Djekurra has been injured for most of the year and I think they would give him one more year!!

And, the Geelong Football Club will not be tempted to trade a premiership player for a higher draft pick.

Mark THompson would not have a bar of it. He remembers the 1986 season when Sheedy off loaded Stephen Carey and Peter Bradbury to Geelong and Collingwood for Mike Richardson and Geoff Raines. The Essendon Football Club never recovered.

Absolutley no way in the world Djerrkura will be cut from the Cats.

He played every match of this season after returning from a quad injury in about round five of the VFL.

Last year he played about half the season with recurring injures.

He will be a star with some solid football under his belt over the next couple of seasons.

Reg,

I have a good memory.

I was 14 years old when the Bradbury-Carey saga destroyed the Essendon Football Club. Sheeds wanted Geoff Raines and Mike Richardson. This story was all over the papers in Victoria.

Peter Bradbury went to COllingwood whilst Stephen Carey went to Geelong.

And, Essendon has another connection to the Geelong Football Club. Trevor Spencer, the former key position player for Essendon, played one season at Geelong (1991) and was the runner for Geelong under Mark Thompson.

Im not saying you are wrong S&B but i rang and spoke to Neil Balme on KBs show 2 weeks ago and he said that they hadnt signed Didji yet as they wanted to keep there options open when delistings come up at the end of the year.

To me , Didj has the potential to enter the side in the next year or two as an impact player and from there its up to him to demand selection. I'd rather see us move on a player who has reached his max potential such as David Johnston than move on a kid before we really know how good he could be.

Generally , the Cats take a long view once they draft a kid. Why draft someone who will be years away from their best and cut him after 2 poor years due to conditioning issues. Sure , they have to make tough calls. It the biz they are in , I think Owen was the last who was a little stiff. Look at our side , guys like Mackie , Enright , Stokes and even Taylor , lets wait until his body is mature enough to compete as well as durable enough to play week after week.
